About the team: The Growth Data Science team helps supercharge CVS Health’s bold growth missions by pairing the best-in-class data science solutions with focused growth strategies. The team works with business partners and peer teams for identifying growth opportunities and bridge the need through measurable advanced data science solutions.

About the position: The Lead Data Scientist will be responsible for end-to-end project delivery. The role will be leading teams that work with stakeholders for growth opportunity identification and quantification, design/develop/implement best data science solutions that fit the need, and measure impact of the work and own the on-going management of the solution. In addition, this role will also mentor other junior team members.

Fundamental Components

• Develops complex algorithms and statistical predictive models and determines analytical approaches and modeling techniques to evaluate scenarios and potential future outcomes
• Brings business insights to inform predictive models: is skilled at reading academic data science oriented literature and collaborating with subject matter experts to inform predictive models.
• Performs analyses of structured and unstructured data to solve multiple and complex business problems. Utilizing advanced statistical techniques and mathematical analyses and specialized expertise in the organization and/or industry.
• Applies analytical rigor and statistical methods to analyze large amounts of data, using advanced statistical techniques.
• Manages large and complex analytical projects from data exploration, model building, performance evaluation and testing
• Behaves as mentor to junior team members to provide technical advice
• Collaborates with business partners to develop technical /business approaches and new or enhanced technical tools
• Interacts with internal and external peers and management to share highly complex information related to areas of expertise and/or to gain acceptance of new or enhanced technology / business solutions

Required Qualifications

• 5 + years of progressive experience as an applied data scientist.
• 5+ years of experience analytics tools and languages such as Python, R, HIVE, Spark, H2O etc. to analyze large data sets from multiple data sources
• 3+ years of business experience leading analyses/initiatives working with business stakeholders with a track record of business impact’

COVID Requirements

Preferred Qualifications

• Marketing science background or professional experience is a plus, such as media mix modeling, multi-touch attribution, customer journey analytics etc.
• Deep understanding of statistical and predictive modeling concepts, machine-learning approaches, clustering and classification techniques, and recommendation and optimization algorithms
• Expert knowledge of advanced analytics tools and languages (Python/R/HIVE/Spark/H2O etc.) to analyze large data sets from multiple data sources
• Strong skills to effectively communicate and negotiate across the business and in the external health care environment
• Demonstrates strong ability to communicate technical concepts and implications to business partners
• Strong organizational, management and leadership skills
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Knowledge of health care industry, products, and systems is a plus
