Job Description

The Retail Analytics team is helping lead the effort to transform healthcare and drive improved consumer experience by partnering with key business areas across CVS Health to deliver impactful analytic solutions and insights. As a member of the Analytics & Behavior Change Merchandising Analytics team, you will be at the forefront of delivering high visibility projects for key CVS Retail strategic priorities. Specifically, you will have the opportunity to drive revenue and customer satisfaction in CVS Health’s Front Store business using data science to optimize pricing, promotions, and assortment decisions.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to solve complex problems, build predictive models and simulate the impact of business decisions to improve customer experience. You will work cross functionally with a range of technical and non-technical stakeholders and translate their business needs into problems to be solved using statistical modeling, machine learning, and optimization. We are a fast-paced team focused on building innovative advanced analytics solutions using AI/ML and cloud capabilities. We are looking for individuals who have a strong sense of ownership, accountability and a desire to deliver high quality and high impact products using advanced data driven approaches.

The Senior Manager of Data Science will:

• Design and develop end-to-end analytics solutions that leverage predictive modeling, causal inference, and large-scale optimization to measure and optimize merchandising decisions in pricing, promotions, and assortment space
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to ideate, design, and implement models and user interfaces that support strategic retail initiatives
• Conduct or coordinate the testing of analytics solutions to ensure results are accurate and consistent with business requirements
• Develop and present insights-driven results with actionable recommendations and go forward planning to guide a variety of audiences including internal stakeholders and senior leadership
• Develop and leverage in-depth knowledge of retail merchandising business processes and translate key drivers of business value to analytics opportunities
• Define objectives and key milestones to meet short and long-term needs of business stakeholders and oversee project management activities including team communication, leadership updates, stakeholder management, and timelines
• Develop and maintain relationships with a wide range of stakeholders including business partners, data engineering, and other teams
• Develop in-depth knowledge of data flows and cloud strategy to evaluate the data needs of assigned projects and the integrity of data
• Manage and mentor junior team members, leading their day-to-day work and contributing to their learning and training agenda
• Interact with internal and external team members and management to share progress and/or to gain acceptance of new or enhanced technology / business solutions

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

Minimum: 115,000

Maximum: 230,000

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.

Required Qualifications

5+ years of experience in retail, consulting, healthcare, or technology industry preferably with domain expertise in pricing, promotions, and assortment optimization, product clustering, localization, and financial metrics

• 5+ years of data science and advanced analytics experience, leading high visibility analyses and initiatives with a track record of business impact
• Proficiency and hands-on experience with a variety of techniques (including supervised and unsupervised methods, econometric models, causal inference, uplift modeling, optimization, and/or reinforcement learning)
• Expertise in writing production quality, clean, and efficient Python or R code, and backend code to build statistical and ML models in PySpark, Spark SQL
• Problem solving skills and experience in translating business problems across disciplines into advanced analytics projects with measurable business value
• Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills, with an ability to communicate technical concepts / solutions to business partners
• Excellent project management skills, ability to deliver in a fast-paced environment and work in a climate of ambiguity

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with managing large scale projects, leading multiple workstreams and working with multiple business stakeholders in a matrixed environment to influence decision-making

• Solid understanding and hands-on experience working with large data sources and proficiency in latest cloud based advanced tools and platforms

Education

• BA/BS degree required
• Masters degree in quantitative field or MBA preferred
