ABOUT THE ROLE AND THE TEAM SIZE & FIT

As an Applied Scientist in the Size and Fit organisation you will use our unique datasets to create bold research experiments to provide customers with game-changing size and fit advice. We believe that using novel approaches in Deep Learning, Generative models and Computer Vision is the best way to help our customers reflect their unique size and fit preferences. At Zalando, we deeply understand that Size Matters. We are excited to use our unique and large article and customer datasets to tackle this challenge using ML and Computer Vision techniques. How about you; would you like to bring in your skills to shape a great experience for your family and friends when buying clothes and shoes online?

You will join our multidisciplinary Zurich & Berlin-based Size and Fit Team, composed of machine learning / computer vision / deep learning researchers, software engineers, and full stack developers from 20+ different nationalities. We provide recommendations and predictions on customer size and fit choices and conduct focused experiments using emerging technologies to solve the challenges.

You will take on this complex and important topic working side by side with our Product Specialists and Applied Scientists. We have great problems to solve, a huge customer base to impact and are a team that loves to have fun. Size and Fit is a human topic. We use machines to help solve our customers’ challenges. But we never forget - size and fit success is defined by how customers feel when they wear fashion.

WHAT WE'D LOVE YOU TO DO (AND LOVE DOING)

• Bring in your experience in developing and deploying Deep Learning algorithmic based solutions to help customers make sense out of confusing sizing systems
• Propose, build and lead bold initiatives - feature ownership from development to deployment

WE'D LOVE TO MEET YOU IF...

You have:

• D or M.Sc. with equivalent experience in Deep Learning, Generative Models or Computer Vision and solid understanding of best practices.
• Programming languages: Python, and its libraries such as pandas, numpy
• Hands-on experience with Docker, Git, S3, ML/DL frameworks such as Tensorflow and Pytorch.
• Strong knowledge of SQL
• Attention to code quality by writing high-performance reusable code including unit tests
