Job Description

As a Head/Manager of Applied Science in the Size and Fit organization, you will lead a team of exceptional scientists to create bold research experiments with today's most exciting approaches such as Deep Learning, Computer Vision, NLP, Reinforcement Learning, and Bayesian Inference, tackling impactful customer problems for millions of Zalando customers. The Size and Fit Team makes sure Zalando customers find what fits them the first time.

We are looking for a leader with strong technical experience and demonstrated passion for people leadership in a fast-paced research and production environment. In addition to technical depth, you must possess exceptional research management and communication skills, and above all, be a strong people leader who understands how to effectively coach an applied science team.

WE’D LOVE TO MEET YOU IF…

• Ph.D or M.Sc. with equivalent experience in Data Science / Machine Learning / Deep Learning.
• 3+ years of experience in leading applied science and research teams in industry or academia
• Solid publication track record in major machine learning, deep learning and data science conferences and journals
• In depth knowledge and experience in advancing research for real world customer problems in one or multiple branches of AI (computer vision, machine learning, deep learning or natural language processing) 
• Demonstrated ability to mentor and grow other scientists
• Expert in Python (and packages like numpy, scipy, pandas),TensorFlow (keras, slim), Caffe2, Pytorch. Hands on experience with Docker, Git, AWS EC2, S3, Postgresql, or other RDBMS. Nice to have: Stan, PyMC, DataBricks.
