As Applied Science Manager for Payment Risk, you will manage a high performing cross-functional team of applied scientists and engineers that builds the next generation of our AI-based risk management and fraud prevention systems. You will create value for our customers in close collaboration with the Leadership Team in an atmosphere of respect and growth.

• You will guide and mentor a team of highly skilled engineers and data scientists in the domain of payment risk management and fraud detection to build, operate and maintain scalable machine learning models.
• As well as develop and maintain processes to ensure high quality applied research and delivery through documentation, peer review, and structured feedback.
• Motivate innovation and prioritise opportunities to improve models through research, design and development of new machine learning features to create measurable business value.
• You will work closely with the leadership team and build cross-functional relationships with product managers, engineers and analysts to drive AI products, ensuring high-quality communication across diverse audiences and turning research findings into production.

WE'D LOVE TO MEET YOU IF...

• You hold PhD or MSc in Statistics, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or other similar quantitative field with 3+ years of applied or industry research experience.
• You have experience in managing, developing and coaching cross-functional teams of Engineers and Data Scientists in an international, agile environment. You have effective communication skills in English, with an ability to understand and translate business and user requirements into ML problems.
• As well as solid experience with Python, Scala, SQL, and big data frameworks like Spark. Solid understanding of cloud-based solutions, preferably AWS.
• You have deep understanding of statistics and machine learning and a proven track record of implementing machine learning to work at scale. Experience in the context of payments fraud is a plus.
