Job Description

As a Principal Applied Scientist working on AI research in the Size and Fit organization you will execute on bold research experiments, help to drive our scientific roadmap, and work with science leaders and exceptional scientists to create AI driven solutions with today's most exciting approaches from Deep Learning, Computer Vision, NLP, Reinforcement Learning, and Bayesian Inference for the good of customers. You will be creating solutions for highly challenging and impactful customer problems within the size and fit domain for millions of Zalando customers.

We are looking for an experienced practitioner and a thought leader with excellent scientific and technical expertise, solid oral and written communication skills, and a demonstrated passion for fast-paced research and production environments, solving hard problems and advancing the state-of-the-art.

WE’D LOVE TO MEET YOU IF…

• Ph.D. or Masters in Data Science / Machine Learning / Deep Learning / Computer Science or a relevant quantitative field (Ph.D. preferred)
• 5+ years of industry or academic experience leveraging AI and complex data from varying sources to solve difficult problems
• Excellent oral and writing communication skills. Solid publication track record in major conferences and journals
• Extensive hands-on experience in tackling real world challenging problems using machine learning and deep learning on large scale projects, ideally from the problem definition, data selection, literature screening and experimentation to their production deployment, monitoring and maintenance 
• Experience developing mid- and long-term research roadmaps and applying the scientific method to tackle research problems. Demonstrated ability to couch and support other scientists
• Expert in Python (and packages like numpy, scipy, pandas),TensorFlow (keras, slim), Caffe2, Pytorch. Hands-on experience with Docker, Git, AWS EC2, S3, Postgresql, or other RDBMS. Nice to have: Stan, PyMC, DataBricks
