Job Description

Job Responsibilities

• Responsible for managing and developing applications using various analytical metrology techniques such as in-situ gas phase FTIR, thin film FTIR, AFM, Combined AFM and IR, XRD, XRR, XRF and XPS using state of the art 300mm metrology assets in order to provide differentiated process technology solutions for optimum on-wafer performance.
• Develop in-situ metrology applications using gas phase FTIR and other techniques, that is integrated with process tools to enable detailed quantitative understanding of process by-products and to minimize tools’ carbon footprint under production conditions. Be a part of a collaborative team to characterize innovative new environmental solutions that satisfy Net Zero ESG initiatives of Lam Research for a better future.
• Develop accurate and precise analytical metrology applications using a variety of optical and x-ray based techniques that provide mechanistic understanding for the physical and chemical modifications caused by key processes down to atomic level. Collaborate with process technologists closely in order to deliver high quality analytical metrology solutions for optimum on-wafer results in support of key product development and other business critical projects.
• Leverage relevant Deep Learning techniques to analyze large amounts of data in order to identify high value trends and to extract mechanistic knowledge and root-causes of failures.
• When fully integrated, make recommendations and develop solutions that enhance Lam's overall analytical metrology capability roadmap to reduce time to solution.
• Implement and perform SPC methods for periodic evaluation of key metrology assets to ensure that toolsets are operating at optimum performance levels.

Minimum Qualifications

Typically requires an MS degree with 4 years of relevant experience or a PhD degree with 1 year of experience. Preferred fields: Chemistry, Material Science, Physics, EE, ChE, CSE, ME or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

Highly motivated candidates with strong ability for teamwork/collaboration and customer-centric technology development style are encouraged to apply. Experience in AI techniques (DL, CNN) and Python programming are preferred.

CA San Francisco Bay Area Salary Range for this position: $40.48 - $89.28

The above salary range for this position is relevant to applicants that reside or work onsite in the California, San Francisco Bay Area only. Salary offers will depend on factors that include the location you work from, your level, education, training, specific skills, years of experience and comparison to other employees already in this role. Actual salary may vary from salary offered due to numerous factors including but not limited to unpaid time off, unpaid leave, company mandated shutdown, and other relevant factors.
