A day in the life - Get ready to think big, work smart and shine bright!

  • Work with teams of engineers from various planning and technical groups to design and implement strategies that meet the technical and regulatory needs.
  • Lead the development of vision, strategy, and roadmap for the incorporation of Long-Term Planning Tool Software into the DSP/TSP planning cycles. (i.e., Grid Connectivity Model, DER Data Manager, Cyme, Copperleaf, etc.)
  • Deriving data insights using platform capabilities towards the realization of analytics and data science use cases
  • Ability to explain complex technical concepts and deliver technical presentations to both a technical and non-technical audience, including external settings. 
  • Provide regular updates on the status of planning activities at all levels of the company.
  • Incorporate risk and financial analysis into work management processes.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Engineering Subject Matter Expertise as it pertains to Grid, System Planning data, studies, and reports.
  • Lead work teams to support system planning process and incorporate lessons learns and launch new Engineering and Planning Tools as they are deployed.
  • Provide updates to management on status of on-going, upcoming, and closed-out workstreams.
  • Present training material to various planning teams
  • Perform Engineering assessments and monthly system planning processes.
  • Support the development of Regulatory documents.
  • Perform root cause analysis of DER and Load Profile Data Quality issues and lead remediation efforts.
  • Lead analysis of infrastructure upgrades and associated costs with planning engineers, financial teams, and execution teams

Qualifications

The essentials

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Engineering, Statistics/Mathematics, or related field of study
  • Five or more combined years of engineering experience, such as Field Engineering or System Planning or engineering support or experience related to tool support, or any other experience related to supporting engineering solutions

The preferred

  • Understanding of electric utility use cases and underlying datasets (specifically Assets Management and Work management)
  • Ability to make effective decisions that meet business needs while minimizing risk and operating within company policies and all levels of regulations.
  • Communicate effectively with analytics/data experts, business leaders, and management to develop data driven solutions and deliver data insights.
  • Translate business objectives into data and analytics solutions using appropriate data engineering, analytics, visualization & dashboard applications.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills a must

You Should Know…

Work Mode: This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage.

  • This position has been identified as a NERC/CIP impacted position - Prior to being hired, the successful candidate must pass a Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) or Background Investigation.
