Job Description

  • The EMEA Data Scientist will act as a data analytics SME in Europe, Middle East and Africa as part of ES-EMEA Sales & Marketing function. Working closely with the senior management, he/she will drive Eaton’s digital and analytics transformation and contribute to building analytics framework for the organization. He/She will work in a big data environment, apply machine learning and statistical techniques, and create data visualizations to answer current business questions and increase productivity. He/She will support process harmonization and apply Scrum methodology to product development.

Job Responsibilities

Your responsibilities would include:

  • Act as an SME and a central point of contact in analytics in EMEA Sales and Marketing organization
  • Manage, coordinate and advise strategic and high-impact global analytics projects
  • Contribute to defining and excelling the business intelligence model for EMEA region
  • Support digitalization strategy and contribute to EMEA Sales and Marketing productivity improvement 
  • Build and train analytics community, shape analytics framework for the organization
  • Advise peers and other teams on how to improve their data maturity and identify compelling data opportunities
  • Coach and mentor interns and junior data analysts
  • Be up to date with the most recent data technologies and actively share knowledge within the organization (e.g. organize and lead data analytics workshops)
  • Contribute to the global knowledge pool
  • Conduct end-to-end analyses from the idea phase all the way through to end results including the presentation and communication of findings
  • Perform exploratory data analyses on large and complex data sets using descriptive statistics
  • Apply appropriate statistical or machine learning techniques (regression, classification, clustering) to model complex problems, find opportunities to increase sales productivity, discover solutions, and deliver actionable business insights
  • Design A/B test experiments, analyze and interpret the results of such tests
  • Create reports and dashboards that capture key metrics required by senior management
  • Communicate data-driven insights and actionable recommendations to global senior management, translate technical findings for non-technical teams and vice versa
  • Automate reports and data workflows (using tools such as Power Automate, etc.)
  • Design, implement and optimize ETL workflows
  • Manage, maintain, and clean complex datasets in big data environment
  • Apply Agile, SCRUM, and lean methodologies (stand-up, sprint review, kanban, kaizen, user stories) to product development 
  • Act as a primary liaison between business stakeholders (EMEA Sales and Marketing), IT and BI Center of Excellence 
  • Act as a business analyst, gather and document reporting requirements, and turn them into technical requirement specifications
  • Coordinate user acceptance testing; lead deployment trainings
  • Actively drive global harmonization and simplification of processes.

Qualifications

Education level required:

  • Degree (PhD preferred) in quantitative field (such as math or computer science) or 5+ years of experience in data science/data analytics.

Years and area of experience required:

  • 5+ years of experience in data analytics.

Technical knowledge:

  • Certified user of any business intelligence tool (e.g. Power BI, OBIEE) 
  • Strong ETL skills (including use of ODBC drivers, APIs)
  • Certified in a data science tool such as Alteryx, SAS Enterprise Guide (minimum 1 year experience)
  • Well experienced with data warehousing and data modeling concepts
  • Strong SQL skills (T-SQL, PL/SQL, Impala and Hive dialects), experience in querying large and complex data sets, deep understanding of relational databases
  • Familiarity with programming languages/tools used in data science (Python, R, SPSS)
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis and machine learning techniques
  • Proficiency in Agile / Scrum concepts and principles
  • In-depth industry knowledge on Sales and Marketing processes
  • Expertise in dashboard design (both graphical and cognitive aspects).
