Eaton’s Finance Technology team is currently hiring for a Lead Analyst – Finance Data Engineering and Development position. This position can be based out of any Eaton facility.

Position Overview:

In this role, you will be joining our Finance Technology team within the Operations Finance & Transformation function. We are catalysts for change -- driving efficiencies, enabling innovation, and developing solutions to help our Eaton finance function deliver critical insights to our operations. As a member of the Finance Technology team, you will be embedded within our finance function to drive increased usage of modern technologies that will complement and enhance our existing financial systems landscape.

Eaton is on a multi-year finance functional transformation journey to provide our finance teams with the tools required to do their best and most fulfilling work. Real-time access to clean, reconcilable data and analytics capabilities are key enablers of that roadmap, and the Finance Technology team is driving this change.

On this team, you will use your knowledge of a wide variety of finance technologies, along with your digital mindset, to facilitate broader adoption of these leading-edge tools. Your role on this team will be to figure out how to optimize Eaton’s existing technology while also identifying modern technology and architecting innovative solutions. Eaton is looking for deep technologists to partner with our finance team to push boundaries and drive finance digital adoption. Successful candidates would be 20% functional and 80% technical—have deep knowledge of technology, understand how to ask the right questions, be a problem solver, and understand how to extract the most value from a technology asset.

This position will manage the development of medium complexity reporting analytics, automations, and other new finance technology. This role is responsible for understanding, preparing, processing and analyzing data to make the data valuable for financial decision-making purposes. The position should be able to develop highly useful insights from large amounts of data with no support from others. This role is responsible for technical activities including the following: requirement analysis, estimation, technical documentation, warranty support, programming, unit testing, system administration, monitoring, technical design, integration, and data quality standards.

In this function you will:

  • Understand functional requirements and complete the technical design, development, and delivery of finance technology solutions focused on analytics and automation that influence key business decisions related to pricing optimization, financial planning and forecasting, working capital, and overall profitability strategy, while driving finance efficiency
  • Execute the following: requirement analysis, estimation, technical documentation, warranty support, programming, unit testing, system administration, monitoring, technical design, integration, and data quality standards.
  • Assemble large, complex data sets that meet functional / non-functional business requirements; manipulate and scrutinize data applicable to finance use cases using tools such as SQL and Python; gathers data, organizes it, and uses it to reach meaningful conclusions for finance; able to ensure quality and accuracy of the data. This can include: locating, profiling, cleansing, extracting, mapping, importing, transforming, validating or modeling.
  • Able to identify facts and trends that are then processed, designed, and presented in a manner that helps business stakeholders to make better decisions.
  • Demonstrate the desire to learn and apply new technical systems and concepts.
  • Increase the usability and effectiveness across our reporting and data analysis finance systems and tools.
  • Work with other data analyst, functional analysts, and data engineers to identify process improvement opportunities, propose system modifications, and devise data governance strategies.
  • Utilize advanced mathematical, statistical, and analytical expertise to research, collect, analyze, and interpret large datasets from internal and external sources to provide insight and develop data driven solutions across finance.
  • Use data science methodologies and advanced data visualization techniques to implement creative automation solutions across finance.
  • Oversee the processes and systems used for data analysis and reporting.
  • Communicates complex information so that it is easy to understand and influences other to take action based on the useful information provided.
  • Implements and maintains decision support or master data management solutions.
  • Has an understanding of current data context, processes and availability, and how current data processes and existing data can be leveraged to achieve the desired benefits.
  • Applies query, data exploration and transformation, basic statistical methods and visualization techniques to create business insights or improve data quality.

Qualifications

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of 4 years of work experience in finance, data, IT, or reporting analytics
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship now or in the future.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a global matrixed business environment preferred
  • Advanced experience with programming languages such as SQL, Python, Java, or R.
  • Excellent data visualization and storytelling skills
  • ERP hands on experience with SAP (ECC or S4), Oracle R12, Mfgpro, Mapics, etc.
  • Hands on analytical tool skills preferred - Power BI (Business Intelligence), Power Apps, SAP BW (Business Warehouse), OBIEE, Tableau, Qlik, Dataiku, or Alteryx
  • ETL (Extract Transform Load) tools such as Informatica

Position Criteria:

  •  Able to extract insights from datasets using basic statistical methods
  •  Able to prototype ideas quickly and create reproducible workflows
  •  Experience building and optimizing ‘big data’ data pipelines, architectures and data sets.
  • Strong analytic skills related to working with unstructured datasets.
  • A successful history of manipulating, processing and extracting value from large, disconnected datasets.
  • Experience with data pipeline and workflow management tools
  • Experience developing creative and innovative analytical insights with high business value preferred
