Eaton’s Center of Intelligent Power (CIP) is a global data science research and software development organization that has an exciting and rewarding opening for a Lead Data Scientist to join our team. This position can be based at our Moon Township PA, Menomonee Falls WI, Southfield MI, Cleveland OH or Raleigh NC facility. Relocation assistant is available as needed!

Position Overview:

The Lead Data Scientist will be directly involved in the application of statistics, machine learning, and analytic approaches to answer challenging business questions. The Lead Data Scientist will assist in the design, implementation and management of platforms used to demonstrate, validate, and commercialize data science technologies, including internal/external pilot programs and proof-of-concept environments. This position is expected to work as part of a global team and needs to be comfortable working through ambiguity to shape effective solutions.

In this role you will:

  • Develop advanced machine learning, data analytics, AI and optimization algorithms and apply them to create new intelligent devices, solutions, and services for Eaton’s businesses.
  • Identify data requirements for analytics algorithms and design, build, and validate technology development/validation platforms required technology validation.
  • Derive, interpret, and effectively deliver the results of data analysis using visualization techniques, tools, custom applications, or by narrating stories about the solutions to business problems.
  • Perform data analysis to verify equipment data integrity and troubleshoot issues to resolve.
  • Develop subject matter expertise on the Eaton and third-party sensors, equipment, and technologies relevant to technology. development & validation platforms.
  • Work closely with the team Data Engineers to integrate equipment and associated data into CIP’s (Brightlayer) analytics platform.
  • Work directly with CIP team members and business stakeholders, engineering, and testing to create high quality solutions that solve technology maturation needs.
  • Explore data, ask the right questions, and provide compelling findings.
  • Provide technical and process training to internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Software Engineering, Physics or comparable from an accredited instituion.
  • MInimum of 1 year experience with application to data analytics.
  • Minimu of 1 year experience with fundamentals of machine learning, data science, IoT and digitalization strategies by enabling the evaluation and application of new sensors and technologies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Software Engineering or Physics from an accredited institution.
  • 3+ years of industrial experience with application to data analytics, IoT, data driven system development.
  • Strong technology depth and breadth in advanced machine learning and data analytics techniques.
  • Experience in the application of machine learning and data science approaches to solve practical industrial problems with the ability. to clearly articulate the value of created technologies.
  • General understanding of data pipelines, processing, storage (database).

Position Criteria

  • General understanding of signal processing and data manipulation methodologies.
  • Experience working with data acquisition systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to effectively explain technical concepts.
  • Problem solving & a continuous learning, digital mindset.
  • Proactive and self-driven.
