WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

The Associate Data Steward, focusing on Retail and Commercial banking, will be part of a fast paced, dynamic Data Governance team. Bringing their deep knowledge of enterprise data assets, business processes, and Data Governance disciplines, the successful candidate will join our Data Stewardship team in working to embed best in class data governance across Santander’s Retail and Commercial businesses. They will coordinate closely with data owners and technology partners to establish common data definitions, data management processes and data quality rules for Santander’s data assets.

Essential Functions:

  • Prepare for and participate in periodic data owner forums, both within and across functional business units, to discuss prioritization, initiative status and issue resolution
  • Maintain the Business Glossary of data asset definitions
  • Identify, track and document the Data Lineage of the data assets
  • Profile the data assets and build the business rules, in partnership with the business, that define fit-for-purpose Data Quality, ensuring that these data quality rules are built out in Informatica Data Quality tool
  • Be responsible for the ongoing review of Data Quality results and work with business and technology partners to resolve data issues and perform root cause analysis of underlying issues
  • Partner with technology to ensure that governed data assets are made available to the wider enterprise in our company data repositories
  • Create and maintain business process flows and data mappings
  • Help embed a data-driven mindset across the organization (e.g. mentor and educate data users as needed)

Qualifications:

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's Degree; Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent quantitative field.
  • Master's Degree; Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent quantitative field or equivalent work experience

WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • 5-9 years relevant industry experience

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to adapt to rapidly changing business environment.
  • Experience developing business process flows, data standards and definitions
  • Demonstrated ability to build out a Business Glossary and to map and track Data Lineage
  • Strong SQL skills to profile data and perform ongoing data analyses
  • Ability to work with Business partners to define the business rules that will measure and drive data quality, and experience in building these rules into a Data Quality tool for ongoing measurement
  • Experience handling sensitive data (PCI and PII)
  • Experience with the Informatica suite of Data Governance tools is strongly preferred
  • Ability to adjust to new developments/changing circumstances.
  • Ability to communicate at all levels with clarity, poise, maturity and precision both written and verbal.
  • Ability to influence others.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of employees, including senior level management.
  • Ability to leverage technology to improve and automate business tasks.
  • Ability to maintain and report on confidential information in an appropriate manner
  • Ability to multi-task and adhere to deadlines
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to understand business and technical functions, process information, ability to assess impacts to the data elements.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience using statistical packages for analyzing data sets (Excel, Access, SPSS)
  • Demonstrated competence in the technical arena and understanding of system development, process improvement, and/or infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated data analysis, data presentation, and data development skills.
  • Displays excellent judgment to understand and support business driven solutions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Project management experience managing multiple project streams and delivering results across cross-functional teams.
  • Solid critical thinking skills to scope and frame problems.
  • Strong attention to details and can analyze information quickly.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.

Working Conditions: Frequent Minimal physical effort such as sitting, standing and walking. Occasional moving and lifting equipment and furniture is required to support onsite and offsite meeting setup and teardown.
