Job Description
As Data Science Product Owner within Santander’s Data Science area, you’ll own, articulate, and oversee the delivery of a clear product vision and roadmap to increase our Machine Learning capability by combining business and technical knowledge to turn vast quantities of data into value.
You will support different business areas climb the analytics learning curve quickly and be more efficient when rolling out use cases by interpreting business needs through a data solutions perspective.
In doing so, you will work with both the business partners and data science experts so to translate business and operational problems into data science solutions that can make a difference to Santander, its customers, and users.

- Managing specific initiatives within the ongoing topic agenda for the different portfolios, improving the Bank’s understanding of Data Science and contributing to the Data Science roadmap, offering expertise and guidance to help set up new Data Science projects.
- Using advanced Data Science approaches to solve business problems and contribute to develop solutions that benefit our internal and external customers.
- Devising and implementing best practice approaches for collaborative Data Science within Santander, particularly in relation to knowledge and best practices sharing, including data preparation, code sharing and templates.
- Anticipating risk and issues proactively and mitigate; accordingly, with previous experience building controls into every production process; being able to work independently and to adopt agile working.
- Staying updated with project progress and managing the relationship with the stakeholders on an ongoing basis.
What you’ll bring.
- Previous product owner or project management experience in a Data Science or similar modelling focused environment.
- Basic understanding of Machine learning and Data Science techniques.
It would also be nice for you to have.
- Ability to manage and motivate a variety of stakeholders in order to deliver successful projects.
- Experience working with data scientists and familiar with data science products.
- Experience in identifying/generating new use-cases and defining a roadmap for product strategy.
What else you need to know.
- We will be conducting all interviews via telephone or video-conference where possible.
- This role is currently home based with an expectation to travel weekly into one of the main Santander offices.
- This is a permanent position.
