Job Description

As a Data Scientist for John Deere in Waterloo, IA, you will work with colleagues across the enterprise to advance and align capabilities in the use of data and analytics for insight generation and lead the growth of Problem and Solution digitization using machine learning within Customer Support. This is a critical Smart Industrial knowledge leadership position that will be at the forefront of innovation and collaboration in the John Deere Connected Support™ analytics space.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the advancement of analytic capabilities and strategies used to develop Expert Alerts for the Tech Stack
• Lead efforts to drive collection of structured data to enable machine learning
• Lead innovation efforts in the development of new methods for data labeling to feed the growth of Machine Learning within the Customer Support organization
• Collaborate with the Analytics professionals, Enterprise Machine Health teams, IT, Customer Support Engineering and Digital Aftermarket teams to deliver value to the business
• Identify opportunities, define, and implement new concepts for value creation using analytics

Required Qualifications:

• 4 or more years of experience applying advanced analytics techniques to generate insights and/or solve vehicle, engine systems, or other Tech Stack component related problems
• 3 or more years of experience in Data Engineering/Data Science/Advanced statistical analysis principles or methodologies
• Knowledge of data principles, data structuring, data labeling, data mining, and tools for data management
• Proven experience as a work lead providing technical coaching and mentoring to others
• Proven strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills and experience
• Balanced understanding of Tech Stack domain knowledge and application of machine learning techniques and strategies

Preferred Qualifications:

• 4 or more years of Data analytics, IT and/or Customer Support experience 
• Experience in project execution, process improvement, working effectively with diverse global talent and cross functional teams
• Familiarity with the design, development, testing, and integration of high complex software solutions using Python, SQL, PySpark, and Databricks
• Experience in a dedicated analytics group
• Familiarity and experience working with Customer Support Data (machine data, warranty, DTAC, reliability, etc.)
• Knowledge and experience in telematic data collection and analysis

Education:

• Bachelor's or master’s degree in Data Science, Data Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent experience in a related career field.
