Job Description

The Artificial Intelligence Technology and Systems Group is seeking a co-op candidate to intern at MIT Lincoln Laboratory. The AI Technology & Systems Group is engaged in a wide range of projects focusing on cyber analytics and multimedia processing. The group’s speech and language processing research and development (R&D) efforts include automatic speech recognition, speaker recognition, language and dialect identification, keyword search, topic analysis, speech and audio signal enhancement, and machine translation. The AITS Group’s newest R&D efforts include domain adaptation for HLTs; cross-language information retrieval systems; cyber and transaction analysis; entity and relationship extraction; cross-media recognition; recommender systems; language-learning technologies; and analysis of social networks based on information content extraction from speech, text, and video combined with network communications and activities.

Additionally, AITS has a large cyber analytics and AI focus. Work in this area is focused on providing situational awareness in multi-domain cyber data environments, information and influence operations, and AI Assurance. In each of the group’s R&D areas, emphasis is placed on realistic data and experimental evaluation of techniques. On a global scale, the AITS Group leads research in several cyber, speech, text, and multimedia analytics domains, with a long-standing and extensive publication record and history of international honors for staff.

Requirements:

  • Enrolled in a degree program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Cyber Security, Applied Mathematics or a related field
  • Ability to work with senior data scientists to explore new techniques and technologies and design, develop, test, and validate cyber-AI capabilities
  • Selected candidate will be subject to a pre-employment background investigation and must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret-level DoD security clearance

Desired Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of at least one programming language (e.g. C/C++, Python, Java, Javascript, React, D3 and/or R)
  • Experience and interest in AI, Machine Learning, and/or Data Science
  • Experience with applied Mathematics or Statistics

Selected candidate will be subject to a pre-employment background investigation and must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret level DoD security clearance.
