What you’ll be doing...

The Data Scientist will work closely with data science and engineering teams and the entire data scientist community at Verizon in proactively designing and developing AI capabilities. These AI capabilities will include predictive, prescriptive, adaptive and generative applications for all predictions and inferences at Verizon. This position will be under the Multimodal and Edge that requires, apart from advanced machine learning, knowledge or capability to learn and implement generative techniques, graph neural networks and graphical analytic techniques. Models will typically get implemented on premise, in cloud and/or on the edge and in both real-time and batch mode depending upon the business applications. 

This is a technical lead role with machine learning, deep learning expertise and Generative AI experience with implementation of AI in commercial applications. This individual will focus on designing large scale AI capabilities that cut across multiple business domains working with and leading the technical roadmap for the data scientist and machine learning engineer teams in the domain of Generative AI and Computer Vision.

  • Identifying and developing AI algorithms to support business goals and lead projects technically to initiate, design, and execute for product solutions across Bus in Verizon.
  • Delivering and bringing expertise to domain of Machine learning and AI
  • Building strong collaborative relationships with our internal and external partners to ensure programmatic activities in AI and Generative AI relevant to product delivery and research interests.
  • Working collaboratively with multifunctional teams across Verizon to leverage resources and ensure successful implementation of solutions.
  • Identifying multidisciplinary solutions and make complex decisions and recommend a course of action to troubleshoot issues.
  • Developing and manage relationships with external academic collaborators
  • Maintaining a thorough and up to date knowledge of scientific advancements in AI and communicate research through peer-reviewed publications and presentations to internal and external audiences
  • Understanding and adhering to corporate standards regarding code of conduct and Verizon Credo.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experienced programming capabilities in Python, C++. Good hands-on knowledge of IDE’s like VScode and notebooks, vector databases and image storage mechanisms
  • Strong knowledge of data handling and preprocessing
  • Knowledge of graphs and applications for AI and Machine learning
  • Must be highly motivated, independent, collaborative, and able to communicate effectively with a cross-functional team

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • PhD in Quantitative 10 + years of related work experience in the domain of AI, Machine learning and analysis.
  • Possesses leading-edge scientific understanding and working knowledge of principles, concepts, and practices in the field of Generative AI, Computer Vision and Multimodal AI.
  • Demonstrates continuous growth in depth and breadth of AI knowledge and understanding of Machine learning
  • Acts independently to achieve pre-determined goals and objectives and mentors junior members in the team.
  • Able to identify multidisciplinary solutions to problems, make insightful decisions and recommend a technical path of implementation
  • Represents and supports culture of employee growth and development
  • Successful experience in working on multimodal data
  • Experience in mentoring and developing team members
  • Track record of scientific publications, presentations, patents, projects as senior author/contributor

If you are hired into a California, Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, New York, Rhode Island or Washington work location, the compensation range for this position is between $136,000.00 and $253,000.00 annually based on a full-time schedule. The salary will vary depending on your location and confirmed job-related skills and experience. This is an incentive based position with the potential to earn more. For part time roles, your compensation will be adjusted to reflect your hours.
