What you’ll be doing...

The Artificial Intelligence & Data (AI&D) Organization is an exciting center of excellence supporting all of Verizon. Our team will be a catalyst to Verizon's future in creating networks that move the world forward through the power of Artificial Intelligence & Data. Specifically, this position will support the Workforce Optimization (DDPA/FTL/SAIC) program within Core & Access Network Engineering & Operations, including all initiatives related to these programs.

This is a high profile, high visibility team that powers analytics and strategic thinking for Verizon, as such you must be agile and able to move at the speed of the business. You are a strategic thinker who embodies the operator mentality, relentless improvement is always on your mind. You will be part of a team that builds tools, analyses, and insights that informs, quantifies, and enables the visualization of data to drive business decisions for all of Verizon’s Networks. With your analytical, big data and reporting expertise, you will deliver business value through business intelligence reporting and analytics by driving insights to actions. One way you will accomplish this is by developing analytical views of data utilizing directional BI tools such as Looker. You’ll use these tools to connect to various data sources to produce meaningful visualizations which the business will consume to make critical decisions. The business insights and recommendations you provide will help to improve Verizon’s performance and customer experience.

  • Creating critical dashboards and visualizations utilizing Looker while partnering with GTS to deliver reporting and data into the operational tools such as IOP, Optix, and Manager Central.
  • Conducting data science experiments to find solutions fit for purpose and producing feasibility studies.
  • Performing ad-hoc analysis and developing reproducible analytical approaches to meet business requirements across multiple work streams.
  • Conducting hypothesis testing on planned initiatives to ensure expected results are observed in practice.
  • Performing exploratory and targeted data analyses using descriptive statistics and other trusted methods.
  • Performing geospatial analyses and creating geospatial visualizations to respond to business requests.
  • Presenting results and recommendations to senior management and business users.
  • Conducting and ensuring user acceptance testing with GTS for database and applications prior to production release to include software testing, quality assurance, and solution certification and approval.
  • Utilizing our brand standards and best practices and across business units and GTS.
  • Detailing and demonstrating solutions by developing wireframes, production documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, and models.
  • Reviewing existing visualizations to assess existing opportunities for improvement within the business and to drive an outstanding User Interface solution.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Google Cloud Certifications
  • Basic understanding of wireless and wireline network fundamentals
  • Experience with process, data, and automation work
  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform, Teradata, Hadoop, Oracle, Verizon Message Bus (VMB)
  • Experience with R, Alteryx or similar ETL/geospatial tools
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience with JIRA/Confluence
  • Working knowledge of Data Engineering techniques
  • Project Management experience
  • Lean Six Sigma Certification
  • Proven ability to present complex or technical topics in an engaging way
  • Experience with developing insights and presenting them in a clear and concise manner
  • Strong understanding of data science
  • Experience with geospatial analytics and techniques
  • Experience with Looker, Tableau, Qlik or similar BI reporting tools
  • Basic understanding of Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or similar cloud providers
  • Experience in applying statistical ideas and methods designed to answer business problems
  • Experience with visual science / dashboard design principles
  • Experience with Python, Spark, and SQL to manipulate data and draw insights from large data sets
