Job Description

The AI Platform team at Rivian supports the development and deployment of Generative AI systems. We operate highly scalable infrastructure for serving and orchestrating LLMs, Vector Stores, and agents. This role will be focused on delivering quality software and backend services, enhancing the utility of GenAI frameworks, and exploring the bleeding edge of this new technology.

Responsibilities

• Work with LLM and AI/ML systems to drive impact through automation.
• Design and develop production backend distributed systems and micro-services at scale.
• Be thoughtful about the customer experience and limitations of modern AI systems.
• Be a subject matter expert on ML infrastructure for internal and external customers.
• Willing to support on-call rotation as needed for Production systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS or any STEM discipline.
• Preferred experience with Machine Learning and AI systems.
• Knowledge of Cloud fundamentals (preferably in AWS) and distributed systems.
• Robust system and component-level design and troubleshooting skills, including memory CPU profiling on cloud-based services.
• Strong coding skills in one or more programming languages – Golang, Python, Rust, Java. Must include knowledge of the how-to unit tests and system tests.
• Good foundation on Unix and bash. Some basic knowledge of Cloud networking is preferred.
• Preferred good foundations on Containerization – Docker, Kubernetes, or similar technologies.
• Familiarity with CI/CD, Git, and Release Management.
• Preferred understanding of Cloud resource provisioning using Terraform, CDK, and Cloud Formation. 

Pay Disclosure

• Salary Range/Hourly Rate for California Based Applicants: $205,000 - $236,000 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).
• Benefits Summary: Rivian provides robust medical/Rx, dental and vision insurance packages for full-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Coverage is effective on the first day of employment, and Rivian covers most of the premiums.
