The Opportunity

This position works out of our Established Pharmaceuticals Division (EPD) that is focused on growing portfolio of high-quality, affordable, branded generic medicines that been successfully treating patients for many years.

We are currently sourcing applications of a Cloud Engineer Internship opportunity in EPD, Basel, Switzerland within the Engineering Team in Advanced Analytics.

Advanced Analytics harnesses cutting-edge artificial intelligence, machine learning, and neural network algorithms to generate maximum business value from existing data. The predictive capabilities of Advanced Analytics have the power to forecast trends, perform “what-if” analyses, and simulate the best course of action.

We are a team of Data Scientists, Engineers and Product Owners that are passionate about turning data into strategic insights

You will have the opportunity to collaborate closely with our Engineering team, contributing to a wide range of daily tasks. These tasks encompass troubleshooting issues related to our AWS platform, as well as participating in discussions about system architecture design for both the platform as a whole and specific projects. Once you are Helping the engineering team to enhance the AWS platform for the upcoming Gen AI initiatives will be the focus for 2H 2024.

Some of the key deliverables would be

• Support the Engineering team to make the AWS platform ready for Gen AI initiatives
• Continuously enhance the AWS platform for prioritized Gen AI initiatives and build required capabilities. Continuous prioritization of Gen AI use-cases for deployment during Q4 2023 and 2024.
• Enable the platform to scale capabilities for Gen AI across EPD.
• Enhance current infrastructure created by the Advanced Analytics Platform.
• Help the Engineering team to troubleshoot issues and implement solutions related to the AWS platform.
• Educate Abbott teams on how to best use the Advanced Analytics AWS Platform.
• Define and document best practices and strategies regarding application deployment and application infrastructure maintenance.
• Improve the Advanced Analytics AWS platform by contributing and implementing new ideas & processes.

Please note this internship opportunity is for 6 months, full-time.

Tech Skills & Expertise

• Some hands-on experience with the core AWS services. ​
• Exposure and basic knowledge to Data Engineering/DevOps/MLOps topics and tools. ​
• Comfortable in at least one programming language, preferably Python, JS or Scala. ​
• Basic knowledge of distributed computing, parallel processing and large-scale data management (including data processing frameworks as Spark).​
• Basic knowledge of development in CICD (Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery) environment. ​
• Comfortable with SQL, shell scripting, docker.​
• Exposure and basic knowledge of IaC (Infrastructure as Code).​
• Basic knowledge and exposure to Gen AI topics.
