The Opportunity

Abbott’s Rapid Diagnostics (ARDx) are looking for a Data Scientist to join the Shared Services-Data Science, Analytics & Statistics team, providing support sites and Business units within ARDx.

The role can be based in Galway (Ireland) but other Abbott locations like Maidenhead (UK) or Lake Forest (US-IL) will be considered.

What You’ll Do

  • Improve data based decision making and provide insights that add value to ARDx.
  • Deliver PMS reports and Quality metrics to facilitate improved customer experience and compliance.
  • Accelerate Margin, Revenue & Compliance projects using Data Science, Statistics, and Quality Excellence tools
  • Drive towards the automation of data analytics through integration with transactional and other systems and develop/implement other strategies to optimize statistical efficiency and data quality
  • Preparation and distribution of reports to support management requirement, highlight key trend performance on process and product quality
  • Performing detailed ad-hoc analysis on multiple data streams with findings summarized in report format for internal customers
  • Provide troubleshooting analysis
  • Addressing questions relative to sources and resources included in reports and methodology used to analyze data
  • Demonstrates commitment to the development, implementation and effectiveness of applicable Quality Processes as per ISO, FDA, and other regulatory agencies
  • Design new trend rules using statistical methodologies, apply ML & AI to existing datasets
  • Has responsibility for entire projects

Profile

  • Previous experience in reporting and analysis with frequent use of either Minitab/SPSS/R/Python/Matlab/JMP or similar and PowerBI
  • Degree or equivalent with strong Maths/Statistics component (e.g. Science, Engineering, Computing degree)
  • Progressive experience with increasingly complex data analysis
  • Deep knowledge and highly exposed to analysis techniques including SPC, ML and visualisation and communication of complex data
  • Advanced degree or experience/exposure in Lean/Six Sigma, or similar is desirable
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Easily adapts to change, works independently and requires minimal supervision
  • Self-starter that can meet timelines and obtain guidance when appropriate
  • Expert in Microsoft Excel/Visio/PowerPoint/Word to capture, analyse, and present ad hoc analysis
