Senior Product Owner Advanced Analytics

Primary Job Function:

The central Advanced Analytics team at Abbott Established Pharma Division’s (EPD) headquarters in Basel is a driving force behind our journey to become a global, data-driven organization. We harness data and advanced technologies like Machine Learning and Deep Learning to foster innovation that sets us apart in the industry. Advanced Analytics is our compass for achieving present and future business targets, securing sustainable revenue growth at optimal margins. Situated within EPD's Strategy Management Office, the central AA team forms a strategic nexus with the EPD Senior Leadership Team.

We are seeking a seasoned Senior Product Owner for Advanced Analytics who will play a pivotal role in driving impactful innovation through modern data technologies. Collaborating closely with key stakeholders such as Market Insight, Market Access, Finance, and Supply Chain, the Senior Product Owner will craft and execute strategies that redefine our approach to business challenges.

Core Job Responsibilities:

Role consists of three capabilities mainly, which make core job responsibilities.

Driving Transformation and Innovation (25%)

• Collaborate with business units, data scientists, and other stakeholders to gain a comprehensive view of challenges and opportunities.
• Lead end-to-end problem definition and recommend impactful machine learning solutions, emphasizing their integration for maximum effectiveness.
• Develop and execute strategic communication and engagement plans to foster awareness, understanding, and buy-in for Advanced Analytics initiatives across the global EPD community.
• Champion the development of essential capabilities to empower our workforce to embrace the data-driven culture.
• Identify and link Machine Learning and AI opportunities to strategic EPD priorities or business KPIs.
• Support the definition of the budget and resources needed to execute an AA/AI project in conjunction with the AA team and the business stakeholders.
• Ensure adoption for Advanced Analytical solutions.
• Accountable for Project Management, and Sprint Execution.
• Drive adherence to project standards and documentation.
• Manage the product lifecycle together with the technical team.
• Maintain a holistic and comprehensive view on the project portfolio and how it serves the EPD AA Roadmap.

Strategic Stakeholder Collaboration (25%)

• Take ownership of stakeholder relations within the designated business area, ensuring alignment with AA opportunities, scope, and roadmap.
• Employ structured governance to project portfolios, ensuring transparency and alignment with overarching business goals.
• Lead project planning, track deliveries, facilitate open communication through workshops, and guide stakeholders toward a future of data-driven decision-making.
• Coaching stakeholders across functions to navigate confidently in a machine learning and data-centric environment.
• Identify key stakeholders and SME to support and sponsor the projects execution and the solution adoption.

Empowering Machine Learning Model Delivery (50%)

• Lead the management of Data Science and Data Engineering project teams, adopting agile methodologies to drive Advanced Analytical Solutions.
• Collaborate seamlessly with cross-functional teams to define and manage Risks, Assumptions, Issues, and Dependencies (RAID) logs, actively pursuing resolutions.
• Ensure timely delivery of projects by maintaining a clear focus on milestones and objectives.
• Comprehensive understanding of ML and AA life cycle incl. ability to identify best fit Advanced Analytical / AI solution approach for a given business problem.
• Understand analytical effort to business problem / impact.

• Forge effective collaborations with internal and external teams to achieve project deliverables.
• Define user-journeys together with Business stakeholders.

Minimum Education:

• Relevant degree in technology, mathematics, science, or business, reflecting a proven ability to communicate modern data technologies within international organizations.

Minimum Experience/Training Required:

• 5-7 years of product owner experience, intertwining Advanced Analytical solutions with change management and capability building in medium and large organizations
• Demonstrated history of leading and successfully delivering machine learning and data science projects for a minimum of 5 years
• Consulting and change management experience are prized assets, amplifying your ability to drive transformation
• Solid comprehension of advanced analytics and machine learning applications and their tailored implementation in organizations like Abbott EPD
• Hands-on product ownership expertise within the analytics solution domain
• Exceptional communication skills to effectively engage with senior executives and stakeholders from diverse functions, conveying the significance of advanced analytics and modern data technologies
• Proficiency in building partnerships across departments, including remote teams
• Proficient planning skills, focused on clearly defined milestones, comprehensive documentation, and use of planning tools like JIRA/Confluence and Microsoft Teams
• Comprehensive understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle and data analytics, including cloud technologies, machine learning, and end-to-end data pipelines
• Proven contributor to digital transformation within a corporate landscape, excelling in a multicultural setting with sensitivity to diverse backgrounds
• Self-driven and adept at managing dynamic tasks and priorities while delivering exceptional quality results
• Innate team player, capable of galvanizing individuals toward shared objectives and making Advanced Analytics accessible to a wide spectrum of stakeholders
• Fluent in English, with additional languages as a distinct advantage
