Job Description

We’re looking for a Data Platform Engineer to help us drive improvements in our data mesh platform, used by stakeholders across the organisation. You’ll be a part of BI, Data Management and Analytics (BIDMA) within Digital, Data & IT, where we focus on creating high value, innovative data products. Join us in our mission to #BringDataToLife!

Key responsibilities

As a Data Platform Engineer, you will take a leading role in an Agile product team, focusing on building and improving a Cloud platform using AWS tools, Python, Typescript and other custom tools.

Your tasks will include:

• Providing technical expertise and guidance for the components that make up our data ecosystem, which has been built on AWS services
• In collaboration with your colleagues, leading and defining the end-to-end architecture of our data mesh and data pipeline solutions
• Taking the role of developer, tester, integration and deployment specialist on the data platform
• Driving continuous improvement using behaviour-driven design principles, DevOps practices, and awareness of compliance requirements
• Coaching and sharing knowledge with colleagues through demos, co-development and sparring, ensuring that expertise is spread across the team to enable collaborative ways of working

Qualifications

We’re looking for someone with the following background:

• Master’s degree in computer science, engineering, software development or a related field, with at least 4 years’ experience working with contemporary cloud technologies, preferably AWS
• Experience with DevOps principles, including continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD), source control, and collaboration tools such as Git, ADO, Jenkins etc.
• Strong skills with Python and at least one other programming language, such as Typescript
• Experience with infrastructure as code and development frameworks such as AWS CDK
• Proficiency with Linux and command line tools
• Experience with containerisation technologies, such as Docker and Kubernetes
• Fluent spoken and written English is a prerequisite

As a person, you have the ability to understand complex technical matters, form an educated opinion, and communicate with impact to a variety of stakeholders with various levels of technical expertise.

The position is based in the greater Copenhagen area, Denmark.

BIDMA is a global, high performing department with a variety of technical, analytical, and multinational backgrounds. We are expanding our offerings to the global organisation, so we need extra resources to succeed with our journey and ambitious vision.

We are creating data infrastructure and platforms to cater to all kinds of technical use cases; evangelising the use of data and advanced analytics; and supporting data science and machine learning users of our platforms. We are cloud native and we work primarily on AWS. We deliver solutions using Scrum methodology. We have built and are operating the enterprise data lake, data mesh and data science platform on AWS to support our vision, which is to be able to deliver world class management of data.
