The Position

We are seeking a data scientist to join our Digitalization team at Novo Nordisk IFP Hillerød. As our team embarks on a journey to apply AI and data science across various parts of the organization, you will play a key role in identifying potential use cases, scoping projects, and executing them in collaboration with the team. The position requires a balance between technical skills and interpersonal communication. In addition to modelling and analytical work, you will need to engage with stakeholders from various parts of the organization to identify potential AI and data science use cases. You should thus be comfortable with presenting your ideas to these stakeholders and explaining the benefits of applying AI and data science to their area of business. This will involve effective communication skills, the ability to listen to business needs, and the capacity to translate technical concepts into non-technical language. The ideal candidate has general knowledge and a natural curiosity within the different data science domains and an ability to imagine how these technologies might be applied.

Your main priority in this position is developing and implementing data-driven solutions to better understand and improve our warehouse processes. You will work closely with the warehouse team to understand their needs and develop insights that will drive process improvements. The warehousing area is highly automated with many conveyors, cranes, self-driving vehicles, and other robots moving goods around. You get to build a model and hypothesis and observe it unfold on the physical equipment immediately after.

Furthermore, IFP Hillerød warehousing is executing an extensive and complex portfolio of projects over the coming years, expanding our existing production capabilities while running 24/7 production. Your work will aid in mapping, understanding, and improving transportation flows, as well as finding patterns in error/alarm messages from various pieces of equipment. Understanding this complex expansion through both data (you) and mechanical knowhow (good colleagues) will be key to succeeding.

The second part is focused on the rest of the organization/value chain. Create value through data across the whole value chain. Drive the data science agenda at the site and mature data science as a key part of the digitalization of the site.

Responsibilities:

  • Accessing, cleaning, and transforming data.
  • Understand, describe, and convey information about processes through data.
  • Sort through, evaluate validity of data. Relating measurements/data to physical movements.
  • Design and implement data models and algorithms to support data-driven decision making.
  • Discover and define new business cases for use of the data.
  • Develop dashboards and visualizations to communicate insights and facilitate decision making.

Your daily working place will be on our site in Hillerød.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Experience with deploying solutions to production; Git/version control, CI/CD pipelines.
  • Degree in data science, computer science, statistics, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience working as a data scientist/analyst.
  • Strong programming skills in Python and/or R and data visualization tools like Tableau or Power BI.
