About the department

The Digital Data Science department consists of 8 data scientists across our Boston and Copenhagen sites. Our purpose is to enable the use of wearables, devices, and digital therapeutics (DTx) within Novo Nordisk’s development portfolio from a data science perspective. We work with data from a variety of sources including time series data generated by multiple sensors like activity monitors, continuous glucose monitors, connected pens, and DTx solutions. By using advanced signal processing, time-series analysis, and machine learning models we generate actionable insights from these diverse sources and identify diagnostic, progression, and prognostic digital biomarkers.

The Digital Data Science team is part of the AI and Analytics organization in Novo Nordisk’s Data Science division. We apply sophisticated algorithms and machine learning techniques to some of the hardest problems in the discovery and development of new healthcare solutions. By leveraging a blend of scientific, problem-solving, and quantitative skills, we provide superior data insights that empower Novo Nordisk to further develop and deliver life-changing treatments. We work in multidisciplinary teams with strong collaboration across all areas of the organization and engage in external collaborations to ensure access to cutting edge research and technology.

The Senior Data Scientist will help guide the team in the development and validation of algorithms and models in support of data science efforts and will actively coach more junior Data Scientists.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Develop, code and validate algorithms based on digital device and therapeutic algorithms based on established best practices and current emerging AI and ML research
  • Implement and maintain local and cloud-based data and computational environments and platforms and help to integrate data and solutions from different sources
  • Build data pipelines (data acquisition, preparation, cleaning, and consolidation) as an integral part of data science activity
  • Demonstrate an ability to take initiatives and drive projects from concept to adoption
  • Ensure a strong team collaboration with other Data Scientists, as well as engineers from other disciplines and teams to ensure progress on a portfolio of projects
  • Identify and propose improvement initiatives that evolve and improve the way the team works and collaborates
