Job Description

We are looking for R Developers and R Package Developers at multiple seniority levels to join our team. Apply today if you want to:

  • Maintain and develop the currently used Statistical Computing Environment for R (SCE-R) which is hosted on AWS with complete infrastructure as code. 
  • Create and maintain internally developed R packages and R Shiny applications in close collaboration with users 
  • Establish the compute part of new cloud-based platform for the statistical development environment 

About the position

You will work in the delivery team of the AMACE project. We develop the solution using agile SAFe methodology with agile events driving the planning and development cycles. The R developer will be responsible for content and quality of programming deliverables, which will be part of the new AMACE system. 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Give presentations at demo sessions for team members and stakeholders 
  • Act internally as point of contact within the field of expertise, ensuring knowledge sharing and contributing to guidelines, trainings etc. 
  • Work to enhance internally developed R packages by making them more modular and generic to facilitate a more automatic generation of statistical deliverables such as tables, figures, and listings.
  • Be part of developing an R Shiny application called Reactive TFL for data exploration that relies heavily on the internally developed R packages.
  • Develop and maintain R packages for use in the Novo Nordisk/Pharmaverse ecosystem 
  • Collaborate with other internal/external developers and domain experts to design and implement new features 
  • Stay up to date with the latest trends and best practices in open-source software development (specifically within the pharma industry) 

Qualifications 

We realise that few people are experts at everything. But if you can nod your head at four or more of the following attributes then you could be the person, we are looking for: 

  • Academic background (Life-science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science or similar). 
  • Proficiency in R programming language 
  • R Package development 
  • Knowledge within clinical database technologies and data models 
  • Background working with pharmaceutical (clinical) data 

As a person, you possess a strong sense of independence and self-drive, proactively identifying problems and actively seeking new and innovative solutions. You work well in a team constellation and have a great collaboration skills. Additionally, you have excellent planning and coordination skills, and you are fluent in both written and spoken English.

About the department

In the Novo Nordisk Development area, we are responsible for managing clinical drug development worldwide, ensuring that our processes follow global standards, regulations and business ethics while still delivering viable and innovative products.

Our department, Biostatistics Business Excellence, is a strategic support and business excellence team, which is part of Data Science. We are around 30ish enthusiastic and highly engaged people with a diversity of scientific backgrounds, such as IT, data science and statistics, and in-depth knowledge across Biostatistics processes, regulatory requirements, Health Technology Assessments (HTA), automation, digitalization tools and strategy development.

We collaborate across multiple skill areas and departments. We advise the entire Biostatistics community which currently covers approx. 400 skilled colleagues mainly in Denmark and India, and smaller teams in US, Spain, UK, Japan and China.
