Job Description

Sony AI is seeking a highly motivated, self-driven individual with expertise in Machine Learning and hardware design, where you will work in our Zurich or Tokyo lab, or potentially we can entertain home-based workers in the US.

We’re currently looking for smart, enthusiastic people who want to join our team of world-renowned researchers as we push the boundaries applying AI in support of human creativity. In this role, the successful candidate will contribute to our groundbreaking robotics flagship project in AI for Chip Design.

You will:

• Drive independently projects related to Machine Learning for the optimization of hardware designs
• Conceive and implement algorithms addressing hardware design. Focus on the generalization of the created methods
• Understand and shape informative data structures for the storage/processing of hardware design data
• Develop ground-breaking algorithms in the realm of Machine Learning for hardware design
• Propose performance metrics and identify limitations of the models
• Write reports and give presentations for internal audiences
• Publish papers in top-tier venues
• Write code to support research, usually in Python and/or C++
• Work closely with a team of AI researchers and engineers in the US, Switzerland, and Japan on ambitious AI projects

You will bring:

• Passion to develop cutting-edge AI technology and deploy it through a multi-stakeholder approach.
• Background in Machine Learning (Ph.D.) and relevant work experience with a track record of developing working systems
• Extensive work experience after a degree
• Solid experience in Reinforcement Learning applied to hardware design tasks is a plus
• Excellent publication track-record in fields such as Machine Learning for hardware design, optimization methods for hardware design, etc.
• Experience in managing or mentoring small teams
• Solid programming skills using Python, as well as frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow
• Excellent oral and written English
