Sony AI is seeking highly motivated, self-driven individuals with expertise in Privacy Preserving Machine Learning. Sony has a lot of real-world AI applications in Image Sensing. We’re currently looking for smart, enthusiastic people who want to join our Imaging&Sensing team as we push the boundaries applying secure and privacy-preserving AI in support of human creativity.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Lead research programs in Privacy-Preserving Machine Learning specifically Federated Learning, Secure Multi-party Communication, Differential Privacy

and/or Homomorphic Encryption

• Work closely with Sony’s Imaging&Sensing business and third parties to identify key issues around Privacy-Preserving Machine Learning
• Work closely with a team of AI researchers and programmers in the US, Switzerland and Japan on ambitious AI projects
• Investigate new algorithms to solve fundamental problems in Privacy-Preserving Machine Learning
• Write code to support research, usually in python and/or C++
• Write reports and give presentations for internal audiences
• Write papers for and give presentations at academic conferences

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Passion to develop cutting edge AI Privacy Preserving Machine Learning technology and deploy it through multi-stake holder approach
• Background in Machine Learning (PhD or equivalent experience) with a track record of relevant academic publications, patents, and/or open source software.
• 9+ years of experience (after PhD)
• Experience working with different AI stakeholders incl organizational, administrative, compliance and R&D
• Experience in Privacy Preserving Machine Learning especially around applications in Image Processing
• Track record of implementing software systems
• Experience in supervising agile teams?Excellent written and oral communication skills, as well as interpersonal skills including the ability to articulate to both technical and non-technical audiences

Other Required Knowledge

• The ability to deliver on tight deadlines and adapt to evolving or changing requirements
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, and willingness in learning Japanese

Preferable major: Computer Science, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence
