Job Description

• As a Data Scientist for the Production AI – Hybrid Solutions & Plant Analytics Platform Product Family within the Global Digital Services organization, you work at the intersection of chemical process modeling and Data Science.
• You will be primarily responsible for supporting the optimization of BASFs production network in the Asia/Pacific region.
• With the goal to continuously improve production plants and site planning by leveraging digitalization, you will support the realization of the Production AI scope. You will ensure all solutions deployed are highly reliable and adhere to all applicable internal requirements and external/government requirements.
• With a focus on innovation and sustainability, you will use your expertise and familiarity in chemical process engineering and advanced mathematical modeling techniques in the field of predictive analytics to ensure developed and deployed solutions are both quality and cost competitive.
• You will develop predictive models that help to improve decision support with respect to transparency, reliability, quality, throughput, safety, and sustainability for our internal customers operating production plants and sites.
• You will work in partnership with the Global Digital Services, AI expert communities and BASF Zhanjiang Verbund Site Project teams to execute pre-studies related to chemical process and value chain analyses, and new technology driven use cases.
• Background in computer science, engineering, mathematics, statistics, natural sciences or information technology
• Experience in Machine Learning, network modeling and agent-based simulation approaches, preferably in the chemical and energy sectors
• Experience with one or more SQL technology (e.g. mySQL, Spark SQL)
• Experience developing software code in one or more programming languages (e.g. Python)
• Ideally working experience in agile methodologies (e.g. Scrum) and frontend development
