The European Site & Verbund Management continuously develops the large European sites of BASF and thus ensures their competitiveness: We manage the perfect dovetailing of infrastructure, operating services and logistics with production at the sites. In this way we ensure the basic supply of the company divisions, which can thus operate successfully on the market. In addition, we advise companies on all matters relating to environmental protection, occupational and plant safety, health protection and licensing law.

TASKS

From Ludwigshafen, our team drives the digital transformation across Europe at three locations. We accompany Industry 4.0 projects from brainstorming to prototypes to commissioning in production and infrastructure. We use a wide range of modern methods from data science, machine learning, statistics and scientific computing, and rely on flat hierarchies and agile working.

  • As part of the interdisciplinary team, you will develop data-based Industry 4.0 solutions from a single source. You will support us from the conception to the use of the solution in the system, and if possible you will be responsible for your own sub-area.
  • They work closely with local companies and an interdisciplinary network of experts. The focus of your work depends on your interests and skills.
  • Possible subject areas are, for example, model development for the simulation and optimization of process engineering processes or the development of AI-based assistance systems.
  • You use methods from data science (from linear models to deep learning) or scientific computing (ODEs, parameter estimation, dynamic optimization). Our supercomputer Quriosity is at your disposal for this.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Advanced bachelor’s degree (at least 4th semester) or master’s degree in applied mathematics, statistics, natural sciences, (business) computer science, engineering or a related discipline
  • achieved above-average results in the course
  • Good knowledge of Python (pandas , sklearn, tensorflow) or R (dplyr, caret)
  • Advantage: Experience with modeling real dynamic processes and software development in a team (git)
  • Enjoy working with data and modelling
  • Independent familiarization with new topics
  • Desire to make a difference and create tangible results that are used directly by customers and partners
