Unlike traditional Data Scientists roles, you gain access to multi-dimensional data from our international financial services industry clients to derive meaningful insights. This opportunity allows you to apply and learn cutting edge Python libraries like Spark, Dask, and Plotly in solving complex data challenges and generating unique insights for our clients through multi-dimensional data correlation analysis.

Join our audit innovation lab and you will work with our assurance teams and world-class clients to leverage leading edge technologies to find creative, technology driven solutions to our everyday client work, and where you will feel and see your impact.

As a Data Scientist, you'll be joined by an entrepreneurial team of multidisciplinary professionals in role which focuses on collecting, combining, and exploring data to create insights that support our clients with their decision-making processes. You will improve our clients' data integrity and quality to allow for more reliable reports and insights within the accounting, finance, governance, and regulatory space and pursue automation in the process to create efficiencies.

Your key responsibilities

  • Our Data Scientists have a critical role in understanding relationships between various financial service sector datasets.
  • Optimization big data and applying repeatable transformation techniques so data is ready for analytical procedures and insights.
  • You will also use statistical and analytical analysis to enable critical value-added services to our audit clients, that improves audit efficiency and quality.
  • You must also have a strong software engineering background and be able to write production level code that could be integrated into broader web application.

Skills and attributes for success

As we continue to build features and integrations within existing applications, our data science team is hiring talented professionals to contribute to our innovative new data platform. We are hiring experienced and hands-on python programmers who are well versed with big data analytics techniques using libraries like Spark on cloud platform.

To qualify for the role you must have

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in in computer science, computer engineering, data analysis, statistics, financial mathematics, or another related field
  • Minimum of 3+ years hands-on experience in Python, SparkSQL (Python preferred)
  • Experience in data analytics libraries and tools including, but not limited to Python – Pandas, Python – Spark, Plotly, Python – Numpy, SparkSQL, Tableau, R, Alteryx, Hadoop, Microsoft Power BI, JavaScript, D3.js, etc.
  • At least 2+ years of industry experience primarily working with data (for example as a data scientist, software engineer, data engineer, analyst, or other technical role) 

Ideally, you'll also have

  • The ability and willingness to travel and work more than standard hours when necessary
  • Strong understanding of complex financial data and strong demonstrated ability applying analytical approaches, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to understand business challenges and translate them into value-add analytics solutions
  • Prior experience in project management and client-serving roles
