This is a Remote role for candidates located in the United States with some travel to surrounding DuPont sites.

ROLE DEFINITION

As part of the E&I Integrated Operation Leveraged Quality Organization, the Data Science & Materials Quality Specialist/Engineer will work with our E&I manufacture teams and continuous improvement teams. They will assist, and lead where appropriate, project teams to help develop end-to-end solutions for manufacture operators that enhance or improve their operation efficiency and effectiveness by optimizing the process monitoring, prediction and decrease failure rate.

In this role, you will be responsible for modeling manufacturing process problems, discovering insights and identifying opportunities through the use of statistical, machine learning, data process mining and visualization techniques across various data platforms, product technologies, regulatory requirements, and customer specific requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES DESCRIPTION

By using a variety of data platforms & statistical methods, combined with experience in quality standards and material science, this role evaluates the interaction of people & processes, with an eye to reducing risk. If material quality upsets do occur, the Data Science & Materials Quality Specialist/Engineer is expected to work as a leading member of the troubleshooting & root cause identification team. It is expected that this role work closely with Procurement, R&D, Analytical Sciences, Continual Improvement, Process Development Engineers, Quality Engineers, Manufacturing Technology Engineers, critical Supply Partners, and various Customers within the supply chain to ensure success.

Key responsibilities: Data Science & Continuous Improvement (60%)

  • Work closely with the business unit operational leadership and continuous improvement teams to define and implement a continuous improvement roadmap, for integrated management systems and individual production sites, focused on improving customer satisfaction.
  • Identify and select relevant and credible data sources, and provide technical instructions to data analysts to collect, integrate and process-mine relevant data.
  • Identify and analyze patterns, test hypotheses, and build continuous improvement models.
  • Conducts advanced data analysis and complex algorithm to help stakeholders to discover and quantify leading information – lagging and leading indicators.
  • Solves stakeholders’ problems through analytics and communicate results and methodologies through an iterative collaboration process.
  • Develops improved process instrumentation and control strategies, process safety, quality, yields, capacity and uptime performance at our manufacturing sites and supply partners, where needed.
  • Leads continuous improvement initiatives working side by side with cross-functional teams and OEE improvements in support of meeting site objectives and other strategic objectives.
  • Utilizes continuous improvement tools and techniques, including lean, Six Sigma, PDCA, A3, Value stream mapping to assess, identify, plan, and drive improvements through to completion.
  • Accountable for discrete projects that drive improvements in customer satisfaction – internal & external.
  • Ensure teams are leveraging both traditional and digital tools when appropriate, including value stream mapping, Day-in-the-life (DILO), visual management, waste identification, and Kaizen improvement methodologies.
  • Provides subject matter expert (SME) guidance in support of best practices, digital transformation, and Lean/Six Sigma project activities in pursuit of continuous improvement.
  • Promote a continuous improvement culture according to the company's strategic vision.

Key responsibilities: Material Quality Specialist/Engineer (40%)

  • Support global and local Procurement, Quality, Contract Manufacturing and Manufacturing Technical during supplier development/qualification as well as during the selection of new suppliers, advance quality planning and assist with the processing of complaints during an investigation.
  • Establish and maintain quality requirements for selected raw materials for use in production of various E&I products at critical customers.
  • Establish and maintain critical process control parameters for raw material production in concert with internal and external vendors.
  • Conduct Supplier Specification Reviews in concert with Site Quality, manufacturing Technical and Procurement.
  • Interact closely with vendors to ensure clear communication of DuPont’s expectations, including regular audits, technical meetings, and on-site visits.
  • Work with multidisciplinary teams to determine root cause and corrective actions of material quality failure.
  • Coordinate with the E&I Global Supplier Development Team to ensure success of all projects.
  • Ensure new and existing raw material supply plans align with global strategy and risk mitigation programs.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Requirements:

  • BS in Data Science, Chemistry or ChemE with 3-5 years’ experience, OR MS in Data Science, Chemistry or ChemE with 2 years’ experience, OR BS / MS in Materials Science in a chemical ISO regulated manufacturing environment.
  • 2-5 years Project Management experience in a chemical ISO regulated manufacturing environment
  • Good understanding of statistical techniques including Design of Experiment (DOE), Process Control Charts, Gage R&R and ANOVA
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint

Preferred Requirements:

  • ISO9001 Certified Internal Auditor
  • Certified Project Manager Expert (PME).
  • Experience in Salesforce.com, SAP, Microsoft Azure Cloud PaaS, and SaaS Platforms.
  • Certified in Lean Six Sigma.
  • Certified ISO9001:2015 Lead Auditor
  • Experience working in a global environment with communications across cultures
  • Experience working in the electronics or a related field
  • Experience using a statistical software program (e.g., JMP™, Mini tab™)
