Job description:

DuPont is seeking a Data Engineer to join our growing team of experimental and analytics experts. The hire will be responsible for building, expanding and optimizing our data and data pipeline architecture in the laboratory or pilot environment of a R&D segment. This hire is responsible to develop, optimize, run and maintain our data flow and collection for data analytics and machine learning purpose.

This Data Engineer will support our software implementation, database architectures and data pipeline development. This Data engineer will also support data analysts and data scientists on data initiatives and will ensure optimal data delivery architecture is consistent throughout ongoing projects. They must be self-directed and comfortable supporting the data needs of multiple teams, systems and products.

Qualifications:

• Must have an advanced degree in Computer Science, Informatics, information systems or another quantitative filed.
• Experience with object-oriented/object function scripting languages: Python, Java, C++, Scala, etc.
• Experience with relational SQL and NoSQL databases including Postgres and Cassandra.
• Advanced working SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases, query authoring (SQL) as well as working familiarity with a variety of databases.
• Have knowledge of building and optimizing data pipelines, architectures and data sets.
• Have knowledge of cloud computing, e.g. AWS cloud services EC2, EMR, RDS, Redshift.
• Strong analytic skills related to working with structure/unstructured datasets.
• Build processes supporting data transformation, data structures, metadata, dependency and workload management.
• Have knowledge or experience in manipulating, processing and extracting value from large disconnected datasets.
• Have strong project management and organizational skills.

Preferred Attributes:

• Prefer to have a science background (e.g. bachelor’s digress in engineering, material science/engineering, chemistry, math, physics or related physical science).
• Having knowledge or experience with system control (instrument/equipment integration, PLC programming) is a strong plus.
• Experience with Design of experiment is a strong plus.
• Having knowledge of data pipeline and workflow management tools: Azkaban, Luigi, Airflow, etc. is a plus.
• Experience with performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvement is a plus.
• Experience with supporting and working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment.
