What Business Intelligence contributes to Cardinal Health

Business Intelligence is responsible for applying business process knowledge and data analytics to develop, recommend and communicate timely, accurate, relevant, and actionable insights to support business decisions and objectives.

  • Uses knowledge of business and data to discover and/or anticipate problems or opportunities where data can be leveraged to address the need.
  • Asks probing questions to translate business needs in order to build and design reporting solutions (metric management, dashboards, enterprise performance management).
  • Applies data visualization, descriptive and summary statistical techniques for discovery and timely insights (data exploration, ad-hoc queries, and analysis).
  • Interprets results of analyses, identifies trends and issues (forecasting), and develops alternatives to support business objectives.
  • Applies data aggregation, descriptive analysis and data presentation techniques and tools to communicate complex findings and recommendations to influence others to take action.
  • Demonstrates ability to clearly and concisely communicate complex information to a variety of audiences and mediums.

We are looking for an energetic and self-starting individual with an entrepreneurial mindset to lead our emerging Business Intelligence team to help us advance our data analytics discipline. Essential Functions


Business Intelligence is responsible for applying business process knowledge and data analytics to develop, recommend and communicate timely, accurate, relevant, and actionable insights to support business decisions and objectives.

  • Direct the training and oversight of the Business Intelligence department
  • Maintains high-performing team by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees
  • Uses knowledge of business objectives, strategies, and needs to identify opportunities where data can be leveraged to achieve the desired business benefits
  • Asks probing questions to translate business needs to build and design reporting solutions (metric management, dashboards, enterprise performance management)
  • Applies data visualization, descriptive and summary statistical techniques for discovery and timely insights (data exploration, ad-hoc queries, and analysis)
  • Interprets results of analyses, identifies trends and issues (forecasting), and develops alternatives to support business objectives
  • Applies data aggregation, descriptive analysis and data presentation techniques and tools to communicate complex findings and recommendations to influence others to take action
  • Demonstrates ability to clearly and concisely communicate complex information to a variety of audiences and mediums
  • Prepares and analyzes data. This can include locating, profiling, cleansing, extracting, mapping, importing, transforming, validating or modeling
  • Works on complex projects of large scope
  • Develops technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems. Solutions are innovative and consistent with organization objectives
  • Work as part of a cross-functional team from engineers to business stakeholders to executive leadership to drive data analytics discipline and prove business value
  • May contribute to the development of policies and procedures

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's in related field (mathematics, computer science, economics, or statistics), or equivalent work experience preferred
  • 5+ years’ experience in related field preferred
  • Experience driving sustainable analytics and insight solutions, reducing needs for ad hoc inquiries
  • Healthcare experience required
  • 2+ years’ experience leading team(s) of analysts

Skills

  • Proven analytic skills, including mining, evaluation, analysis, and visualization.
  • Strong knowledge of and experience with reporting packages (Business Objects, Power BI, Tableau, etc), databases (SQL, etc), programming (XML, Javascript, or ETL frameworks).
  • Natural tendency to be curious, positive, and creative
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to communicate across all levels of an organization, demonstrating professionalism and good judgment at all times
  • Must be able to work autonomously (with minimal direction) while also being part of an integrated team
  • Strong organizational and time management skills

  • Technical proficiency related to business intelligence and analytics software

Other Considerations

  • Sitting and standing long periods of time
  • Must be able to travel overnight up to 10%
