The Data & Analytics Function oversees the analytics lifecycle in order to identify, analyze and present relevant insights that drive business decisions and anticipate opportunities to achieve a competitive advantage. This function manages analytic data platforms, the access, design and implementation of reporting/business intelligence solutions, and the application of advanced quantitative modeling.

Data Science applies base scientific methodologies from various disciplines, techniques and tools that extracts knowledge and insight from data to solve complex business problems on large data sets, integrating multiple systems.

  • Works with stakeholders to identify business opportunities, goals, or objectives; determines if objectives can be met using an analytical approach and develops hypothesis.
  • Identifies key data requirements and acquires data; harmonizes, rescales, and cleans data for statistical techniques; applies data visualization techniques to evaluate data for model specification etc.
  • Builds custom quantitative models by applying advanced statistical methods such as causal and predictive modeling, forecasting, data mining, simulation, and/or optimization.
  • Develops sustainable solutions by working with partners, documenting processes, and showing a bias toward automation.
  • Interprets results of quantitative models, identifies trends and issues, and develops alternatives to support business objectives.
  • Demonstrates ability to clearly and concisely communicate complex information to a variety of audiences and mediums, including through dashboards and other data visualization techniques.

Job Summary

The Medical Revenue Management Analytics & Applications team provides advanced analytics, application development, automation, data transformation, and visualizations to support Medical segment Revenue Management. The Data Scientist, Revenue Management works with customer, sales, pricing, and third-party data to produce insights in dashboard, presentation, memo, or spreadsheet format.

Expected projects include elasticity analysis, segmentation, market price estimation, inflation impact and forecasting, and developing models of the price response function.

Accountabilities in this role

  • Works on larger (multiweek) projects and ad hoc (< 10 hours to completion) requests that help drive Medical Segment profitability, including pricing segmentation, price-volume modeling, and customer churn.
  • Establishes relationships with multiple stakeholders in Finance, Revenue Management, Strategy, and Marketing.
  • Produces business-relevant deliverables on time and with high accuracy.
  • Acts as an analytics consultant and product manager to develop, deliver and maintain analytic solutions.
  • Tracks work in progress and allocates time to higher priority tasks.

Preferred Qualifications

  • BA, BS or equivalent experience in related field preferred.
  • 4-8 years’ experience preferred.

Preferred Experience

  • Knowledge of advanced statistical techniques and concepts (regression, hierarchical models, properties of distributions). Familiarity with cross-sectional, time-series, hierarchical modeling preferred.
  • Familiarity with statistical computer languages (R, Python). Familiarity of Bayesian modules like Stan preferred.
  • Familiarity with data exploration and mining tools. Alteryx experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with data querying and merging tools such as SQL or Business Objects.
  • Familiarity with data visualization packages such as Power BI or Qlik. Tableau experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of a variety of machine learning techniques (clustering, classification and decision trees, neural networks, etc.) and their real-world advantages/drawbacks. Familiarity with Google Cloud/Tensor Flow preferred.
  • Understanding of visual design principles to best communicate information.
  • Demonstrated experience addressing data challenges in a federated data environment, including understanding how data is generated and its impact on analysis.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a team environment and collaborating on projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate insights effectively to multiple levels of an organization.

Anticipated salary range: $88,500 - $126,400 Annual
