Job Description

Verily, an Alphabet company, lives at the intersection of technology, data science and healthcare. Our mission is to make the world’s health data useful so that people enjoy longer and healthier lives.

Our team combines expertise in healthcare, data science and technology to improve the health and well-being of our communities. We are developing the infrastructure and solutions to harness the profusion of health information for good. Our data-driven solutions span three primary areas: research, care and innovation. Programs include Project Baseline - our research initiative to increase participation and evidence generation in clinical research; Onduo - our personalized virtual care platform, which includes connected tools, lifestyle coaching and clinical support; and Debug - our effort to reduce the threat of mosquito-borne diseases by combining machine learning with sterile insect technique. We’re also actively working to combat the spread of COVID-19 through new programs like Healthy at Work.

Verily Life Sciences is focused on shifting health care from a reactive, undifferentiated approach to a proactive, targeted approach by transforming the detection, prevention, management and even our basic understanding of disease. Our biostatisticians work collaboratively with broad study teams to analyze rich, multi-modal datasets including clinical outcomes data, EHR, app data, and many other data types. We work with a variety of teams developing a diverse portfolio of devices and digital biomarkers. Many of our studies involve non-traditional experimental designs and consulting is a critical element of this role.

  • Determine innovative study designs, appropriate statistical tests and methods for both evaluating and generating statistical hypotheses.
  • Statistical programming to generate datasets, tables, and figures for collaborators.
  • Collaborate with other biostatisticians, sharing statistical expertise.

Minimum qualifications:

  • PhD in statistics or biostatistics or a masters plus equivalent experience.
  • Two years of experience with analysis of healthcare data.
  • Experience with EHR and/or claims data.

  • Understanding of statistical tools for non-randomized comparisons.
  • Familiarity with developing real-world evidence.
