Description

Behavioral science is a core differentiator for Verily. The success of our products hinges on how effectively we enable individuals and their care providers to make the right decisions about managing their health. 

As part of the BSci team within Verily, you will help design innovative, effective, and scalable ways to influence behavior in ways that improve health outcomes. You will work with product teams on developing programs and tools for initiating and sustaining healthy behavior change. Using your background in behavioral science, you will inform the design and marketing of our products by sharing insights from the research literature and your own primary research. This position requires creative and interdisciplinary thinking, and breaking out of academic silos to create innovative and effective solutions for engagement and healthy behavior changes. In this role you will work in a highly collaborative environment with designers, engineers, writers, product managers, clinical experts, and other stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with cross functional teams to apply behavioral science principles to product design, content development, data collection and analysis, and product strategy. 
  • Build and communicate to the organization a rigorous understanding of behavior change methodologies and implementation strategies within the health care setting.
  • Scope, prioritize, advocate for, and execute on designing experiments, data collection efforts, and analysis plans to measure and improve our behavioral strategy.
  • Understand and incorporate complex technical, clinical, and business requirements into research and advocate user-centered thinking to product teams successfully.
  • Develop and lead behavioral science training for designers, content creators, product owners and engineers.

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in social or cognitive psychology or a related behavioral science field, or equivalent practical experience. Candidates are expected to have knowledge of evidence-based frameworks for understanding human behavior and of behavioral science interventions that have been tested in a healthcare setting. 
  • Experience applying behavioral science insights and experimental research methods to building products or services, preferably in healthcare.
  • Strong communication skills, able to present findings and thought leadership in a clear and concise manner. Ability to translate academic work into digestible and actionable insights for cross-functional teams.
  • Experience leading quantitative research through the entire research cycle (e.g. ideation, design, analysis, dissemination).

Preferred qualifications:

  • PhD in Behavioral Science/Economics or equivalent practical experience.
  • Ability to work in a highly collaborative roles that requires ongoing relationships with research, design, engineering, analysis, and product. 
  • Experience building things from scratch and working in a highly ambiguous environment.
  • Experience applying behavioral science in the health domain.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $114,000-$175,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
