Objectives of this Role:

  • Provide solutions and technical guidance to complex acoustic, thermal, electromagnetic, and computational problems.
  • Develop advanced, proven physics-based acoustic models leading to new technologies and applications.
  • Lead innovating/cutting edge research in the areas of acoustics and electrical networks as applied to systems and/or applied engineering.
  • Support multidisciplinary staff (scientists, analysts, and engineers) to delivery cutting edge acoustic and electronic solutions to programs.
  • Support technical marketing in acoustic and sensor technologies.

Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams by applying knowledge of physics and acoustics to perform system design, design assessments, device testing and data analysis to solve client problems from concept to delivery of hardware-based systems.
  • Develop clearly written documentation describing engineering procedures, designs, and project results.
  • Prepare formal and informal technical presentations for prospective clients, existing clients, and for conferences.
  • Provide technical engineering oversight to projects to ensure compliance to requirements, design practices and contract requirements.
  • Engage in idea development and proposal writing, supporting management in marketing and the development of budgets and proposals.
  • Mentor junior level engineers.

Requirements:

  • Requires a Bachelors, Masters, or a PhD in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or similar with related experience
  • Training in these areas are helpful: jet injectors and/or aeroacoustics
  • 6 years experience required with a BS, 5 with MS, 4 with PhD: Experience in acoustic or acoustical measurements and data analysis.
  • Experience through work, internships, or by education in acoustics and basic physics principles
  • Knowledge of acoustic systems and applicable physics and engineering.
  • Experience in basic programming (MATLAB or Python), report generation using Microsoft Office products, spreadsheets.
  • Classes or internships using transducers, microphones, hydrophones, laser vibrometers, accelerators, and various sound meters or an interest.
  • Use of advanced (MATLAB or Python or other language) data analysis tools is a plus.
  • A valid/clear driver's license is required

Special Requirements:

Applicant selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Applicant must be a U.S. citizen.
