Who We Are:

As a User Interface Developer you will serve as the main point of contact within the Robotics Department for User Interface design, development, implementation, and human factor considerations. As an R&D organization we strongly agree design isn't just how it looks; design is how it works.

Objectives of this Role:

  • You will develop both desktop and web-based interfaces and integrate them fully into the robotic software back-end. Your software will interface directly with C++ applications, industrial controllers, embedded devices, robot controllers, and sensors that make up our solutions.
  • You will assist the software team with selecting & integrating appropriate communications protocols, libraries, & frameworks.
  • Participate in the full scope of UI design, from initial concepts through design, development, interfacing with backend code and support of fielded apps.
  • You will support other robotic software development such as simulation, path planning, navigation, perception, & supervisory apps.
  • Must have a passion for User Interface development & existing familiarity with ROS apps along with variety of web & desktop based UI frameworks.
  • Our team is actively researching novel methods for human/robot interaction, and you will help guide that effort through brainstorming, development, and testing. Help guide project teams to create functional & intuitive interface designs.
  • Your software will delight the customer and support future business development opportunities by showcasing the technology in a very usable package.

Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:

  • Develop new user interfaces that meet business requirements on schedule and within budget. Create interface mockups to support design reviews ad project proposals.

  • Revise and suggest improvements to existing user interfaces.
  • Extract requirements related to use of solution from customers.
  • Perform in all phases of project lifecycle, including requirements definition, software design, system creation, testing, integration, and customer training.
  • Work within both agile and waterfall projects.

Requirements:

  • Requires a Bachelors in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related degree with directly related experience
  • 2-7 years: Developing desktop and/or web-based user interfaces.
  • C++, Python, or equivalent programming language and Integration of user interfaces with a backend such as SQL databases or hardware.
  • Proficient with Linux.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills, able to present, and the ability to work well both individually and as a member of a project team.
  • Must have a demonstrated interest in robotics, automation, controls, or similar. Basic knowledge of operating systems, object oriented programming, and databases.
  • Ability to proactively learn new software & technologies quickly.
  • Has a passion for User Interface development and existing familiarity with Robot Operating System (ROS) applications, along with a variety of web- and desktop-based user interfaces.
  • A valid/clear driver's license is required

Special Requirements:
