Who We Are:

The Automotive Propulsion Systems Department works to better the world by improving efficiency and reducing energy consumption of mobility systems. We research, develop, and test a wide range of technologies including electric, fuel-cell, hybrid, combustion and connected vehicles and power systems.

Objectives of this Role:

  • Innovation, development and testing for the future of the automotive industry with a particular focus on hybrid and electrified powertrains.
  • Stay on the cutting edge of powertrain development including Engines, Electrification, and Drivetrain.
  • Plan a personalized rotational development program cultivated to your interests.
  • Build a network of peers and mentors throughout the department to assist with your continuing career development.
  • Work collaboratively.

Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:

  • Support research activities through test cell setup, data acquisition and control system operation, test cell operation and data analysis.
  • Coordinate test stand fabrication with mechanics and technicians.
  • Assist with scope and budgeting of customer proposals, participate in customer meetings and assist with report writing and data processing.
  • Work daily with a team of experienced engineers, project managers and technical staff to successfully conduct projects.

Requirements:

  • Requires a Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering, Powertrain Engineering, or Electrical Engineering
  • 0-2 years: Participation in an engineering team environment with clear and quantifiable accomplishments. Engineering internships preferred.
  • 0-2 years: Have strong interest in areas such as transportation, engines/powertrains, and future automotive technology, as demonstrated through course selection or student projects.
  • 0-2 years: Skills in engineering software such as Labview, Matlab, Simulink, Python, or related is beneficial.
  • A valid/clear driver's license is required
