Job Description

Who We Are:

We develop electronics & embedded systems for vehicle and propulsion system R&D programs aimed at sustainable mobility. Clients are internal, commercial and government. Our growing team also supports SwRI’s space research by developing flight hardware.

Objectives of this Role:

  • An entry level engineer to research, design, analyze, document, and troubleshoot various electronic systems,
  • These systems may include analog, digital, and power electronics for data acquisition, digital communications, power management, and embedded control systems across various industries including vehicle powertrains and space flight systems.
  • Responsible for design, analysis, documentation, verification, and test of analog and power electronics hardware for automotive, electrification and space applications.
  • Support the full lifecycle design for related analog and power electronics in high reliability systems for multiple applications; define requirements, write specifications, perform analysis and implement designs from concept to hardware; work with team of engineers.
  • This position requires working with fellow staff, management, and clients to solve complex engineering problems.

Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:

  • Design electronic components, systems, and products including analog, digital, and power electronics.
  • Utilize computer-aided design and engineering software for design and simulation of circuits, systems, printed circuit boards, and assemblies (Altium, SPICE).
  • Analyze circuits, systems, and data for troubleshooting, reliability, and effectiveness.
  • Work with various engineers, clients, and management to solve complex engineering problems and recommend designs, repairs, and modifications to achieve project goals.
  • Provide technical support, instruction, and documentation to staff and clients.
  • Knowledge of embedded programming and scripting languages (e.g. C, C++, Verilog, Python, TCL) a plus.

Requirements:

  • Requires a Bachelors in Electrical Engineering or Engineering Physics preferred - related degrees in engineering appropriate when coupled with relevant on-the-job training and experience.
  • 0-5 years: Circuit design (analog, digital, power)
  • 0-3 years: Circuit analysis and simulation
  • 0-3 years: General computer skills (Office, etc.)
  • 0-3 years: Programming/Scripting a plus (e.g. C, C++, Verilog, Python, TCL)
  • A valid/clear driver's license is required.

Special Requirements:

Work assignment is in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Must be a U.S. person (i.e., U.S. citizen, non-U.S. citizen national, lawful permanent resident, asylee, or refugee) due to ITAR work in section.
