Job Description

The Director, RWD/Evidence Data Domain Owner holds a leadership position (will want the ability to have direct reports). This role will lead acquisition strategy for real-world data sources for possible in-license/ purchase and additional analytical tools for in-house analytic needs across the organization. The incumbent is strategically responsible for the domain definition and governance.

The Director, RWD/Evidence Data Domain Owner is responsible for oversight of operational governance tasks & data life cycle governance. This role is responsible for setting, implementing, and managing indicators for data quality. The incumbent will support operational processes affecting data in their domain as well as provide operational leadership of the data domain forum for their data domain as decision making instance by empowerment of the data stewards and stakeholders.

This position will require regular alignment with other data domain owners and data stewards. The incumbent can assign process-related responsibilities for complex sub-processes to individual data owners or data stewards. This role develops and maintains change management, communication & training processes to ensure adequate quality and compliance awareness. The incumbent will act as a key and lead contact for data consumers, QA Manager Global Process Compliance, and other relevant functions, e.g., Regulatory Affairs, Data Strategy, Legal, Quality Assurance, domain teams.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Leads acquisition strategy for real-world data sources for possible in-license/ purchase and additional analytical tools for in-house analytic needs across the organization.
  • Provide subject matter expertise to the organization for the RWD/E Domain.
  • Leads development of and ensures target Information Model, extended with taxonomy and ontology models where applicable, system and process landscape as well as as-is mapping for the concerned domain is available.
  • Responsible for data governance for the Data Domain and related systems in line with national and international regulations, GxP, information protection, adherence to contractual obligations and ensures compliance.
  • Creates and maintains of Data Sharing Terms accordingly.
  • Steers portfolio of initiatives concerning their Domain regarding objectives, timing and resources and aligns with stakeholders.
  • Defines quality indicators for data within their domain, ensures implementation in system, measurement, and management.
  • Supports, authorizes, and provides Project leadership using data in their domain.
  • Leadership position, leading a team of data experts in RWD.
  • Acts as both technical and administrative supervisor, focusing on team performance, professional and personal development of direct reports, and following AAI principles as well as being a role model for BI's core values.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree (e.g., MBA, MSc) with ten (10) years (Total) of experience in Data Science, Information Sciences, Bioinformatics or a related field including (5+) years of experience in data management and analysis or equivalent (applied analytic disciplines, such as epidemiology, health outcomes, health informatics, biostatistics or health economics).

OR

  • Doctoral degree (e.g., PhD, MD) in related field with six (6) years of experience.
  • Coaching project and team members.
  • Excellent communication and change management skills and continuous improvement knowledge and mindset.
  • Data Domain specific expertise and understanding of the specific nature of data in the domain. In case of a disease domain, knowledge is not required on a single disease, but how diseases can be generally understood, described, and distinguished.
  • Data Governance experience / knowledge.
  • Mandatory experience working with large healthcare databases such as MarketScan, EMR data, or similar.
  • Ability to gain rapidly a solid understanding of related processes and businesses.
  • Ten-plus (10+) years of experience in leading projects and/or people in an international environment demonstrating strategic thinking and mindset and experiences working across Corp. Board Divisions including senior level expertise in the analysis of RWD, five-plus (5+) years of experience is also preferred at a Director level.
  • Strong leadership skills in a complex matrix environment, i.e., without direct reporting lines into other Divisions and Business Units, including working with disease domain teams.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, including the ability to produce documents and emails which are adapted to the needs of the audience.
  • Strong organizational, time-management and prioritization skills necessary to evaluate, plan and accomplish multiple work goals in a timely fashion.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
  • Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required).
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
