Description

As a Connected Asset Data Specialist – Regulatory Compliance you will contribute to enterprise regulatory compliance by supporting internal product group clients and engaging with various external industry associations. This position provides support for identifying, understanding, and communicating various regulatory requirements associated with product data generated by various engine, machine, and power system products and their supporting digital applications along with assisting in the identification of other regulatory requirements associated with various types of digital radio devices and telematics. Data is an increasingly important part of Caterpillar’s business model, and this role is critical to reducing business risk. This position will collaborate with other data and digital device specialists in various global regions. You will also be responsible for understanding the regulatory landscape and market access requirements for many different regions around the globe and may require occasional international travel.

The impact of decisions made by this position may be far-reaching, including the project team or immediate work group, division and/or business unit, suppliers, internal and external customers, and Caterpillar markets. Decisions may significantly impact product safety, security, warranty, patents, costs, sales, or customer perceptions.

Job Duties

Contribute to established tools and processes to manage regulatory compliance and data governance.

Work with design teams performing product and application compliance reviews, supporting their NTI, NPI, NMI, NSI programs

Review technical publications such as Operations & Maintenance Manuals and Special Instructions and various compliance related documentation such as test reports, spec sheets, declarations of conformity, certifications, etc., to ensure compliance-related matters have been properly addressed.

Keep up to date on new industry standards and regulatory compliance requirements associated with data and communicate requirements to team members and clients.

Represent the company externally in various industry association engagements.

Influence legislation and regulations while in draft form by working with regulatory bodies.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer or Data Science, Engineering Technology, or a similar field of study from an accredited college or university (A non-technical degree is acceptable provided the candidate meets job-related experience requirements)

10+ years of job-related experience in engineering, data science or compliance related role

Top Candidates will also have

Experience with radio or data communications and asset connectivity

Experience with telematics certification, data regulations and digital app development

Engineering development or validation experience with mobile machines, engines, or power systems

Experience participating in industry associations or standards developing organizations.

Excellent communications, collaboration, and analytical skills

Extensive understanding of complex engineering concepts and applications

Ability to communicate technical information effectively across the organization and create professional interactions with internal teams and external agencies around the globe.

Capability to network and communicate across a diverse range of backgrounds, cultures, and management levels

Additional Information

The location for this position is Peoria, IL with expectations for up to 50% of work activity in the office.

Domestic relocation assistance is available for this position.

This position may require up to 25% travel.
