WHO YOU'LL WORK WITH

You will be based in our Dusseldorf office in Germany as part of our Social, Healthcare and Public Entities (SHaPE) practice.

The mission of McKinsey's SHaPE practice is to measurably improve individuals’ lives, livelihoods and health, creating safer and more just communities around the world. You will work as a member of SHaPE's Healthcare Analytics team in Germany. This team is part of the Healthcare Analytics hub in Europe, founded in Q1/2022, with the aim of being able to offer our European clients in the healthcare sector a greater variety of digital and analytical solutions. Our skills are essential for the implementation of organization-wide transformations and strategic programs, especially for statutory and private health insurance companies, service providers (e.g., hospitals) and governments.

The Healthcare Analytics team fosters innovation driven by advanced analytics, user experience design thinking, predictive forecasting, and new product development of scalable and sustainable assets. We are a community of entrepreneurs within McKinsey dedicated to using technology to accelerate meaningful impact for our clients. Through self-service access to analytics and data, software-as-a-service solutions, strategic acquisitions, and a vibrant ecosystem of alliances, we are redefining what it means to work with McKinsey.

In this role, your primary focus will be on our healthcare clients and their work in Germany, UK and Europe. Our solution delivery analysts use expert knowledge, healthcare data (public, client and third-party) and analytics to answer some of the most pressing questions our SHaPE clients have today, such as “How do we manage the cost of healthcare while improving quality?”, “How do we remain competitive in an evolving healthcare landscape?”, and “Who are the most vulnerable patients and what interventions can we design to better care for them?”.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

As Solution Delivery Data Analyst, you will work within a diverse client service teams to provide technical and business translation, systems thinking, and industry expertise in service of our clients. 

In this role, you will gain deep exposure to our Healthcare Analytics proprietary assets and actively work with front-line client teams across verticals to set up and deploy these assets. You will support the execution of our advanced analytics solutions and bring relevant industry expertise to our clients, especially on the topic of statutory health insurance.

You will collaborate with our data engineering colleagues to identify and transfer relevant client data to McKinsey’s big data platform. You will also work directly with the capabilities and insights team to generate insights on low-code/no-code tools and create visualizations of BI solutions. Over time, your role will grow to manage more complex asset deliveries and participate in problem-solving sessions with clients and consultants.

In addition, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of industry-leading capabilities. You will collaborate with product teams to innovate on the end-to-end solution delivery chain, injecting QA tools and processes, increasing automation, and recommending user-centric product enhancements. 

You will be expected to challenge extant ideas and processes based on your work and insights. You will contribute significantly to the knowledge and capability-building of the hub, playing a critical role in problem-solving engagements with other teams and consultants.

This role will give you the opportunity to serve multiple healthcare analytics clients in the Dusseldorf region, but also on a European (e.g., in the UK or Scandinavia) or an international level, depending on your own preferences.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree in healthcare economics, economics, social sciences or engineering (with an additional focus on healthcare); an advanced degree is a strong plus
  • 2+ years of relevant work experience in healthcare (e.g., in a start-up focused on data and innovation, in health insurance) is a bonus
  • At least basic knowledge of the German or European healthcare industry and/or passion for health-related topics
  • Working knowledge of BI tools such as Tableau and PowerBI is a plus 
  • Working knowledge of coding languages such as Python, SQL or equivalent is a plus
  • Strong problem-solving skills; ability to process complex information, break it into logical steps/tasks and present it clearly to a range of audiences
  • Client service and operation mindset
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong team player in a dynamic and changing work environment; ability to work well with multi-disciplinary teams across continents/time zones
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in German and English (C1 level –CEFR or equivalent)
