Job Description

You will be based in our London or Lisbon office as part of the FinLab team.

FinLab’s work encompasses overall strategies for forward-thinking clients across financial services, real estate and private equity-owned businesses, advanced analytics and client segments, organizational issues, performance improvement, and mergers and alliances. We also undertake work on client issues in marketing, risk management, branding and customer relationship management.

You will work with a team of McKinsey and client software engineers to deliver the analytics-driven insights through a user-friendly interface such as a web-based application or a business intelligence tool (e.g. Power BI). You will work with the client IT team as they set up the necessary infrastructure and processes to support predictive analytics (e.g., ETL from the ERP system to data warehouse/lake). You'll work with McKinsey client teams on analytics methodologies and approaches to address client-specific needs including discussing data collection, architecture, associated costs and trade-offs, and recommendations.

What You'll Do

You'll work with client teams to apply machine learning models and advanced analytics to a large variety of business problems.

In this role, you'll own an analytics workstream, manage respective tasks and client project team members/experts while building client relationships. You will work on projects and exchanging experiences with your colleagues means you will face new intellectual challenges on a daily basis while continuously building your methodological knowledge and skills. You will also keep abreast of the latest technologies and analytics approaches, attending conferences or other events as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, design, information systems, electrical engineering or related discipline; master's degree is a plus
• 3+ years of related professional experience
• Expert understanding of Python; additional knowledge of parallel processing frameworks like MapReduce, Spark, Scala is a plus
• Hands-on skills working with data pipelines using SQL and No-SQL databases
• Experience in microservice architecture and REST APIs
• Experience working with cloud services and infrastructures such as AWS, Azure, or Google
• Experience in engineering practices such as code refactoring, design patterns, design-driven development, continuous integration, building highly scalable applications, application security
• Knowledge of Agile software development process
• Experience in container technologies like Docker/Kubernetes is a plus
• Experience developing both batch and real-time data ETL pipelines is a plus
• Proven record of leadership in a work setting and/or through personal project portfolio
• Active GitHub and/or personal web portfolio
