About the Role

Are you ready for a new challenge? We are seeking for a highly motivated and experienced data scientist with Property and Casualty Insurance background and a real passion for technology and a great digital savviness to join our team. You will be based in Hong Kong and be part of the Advanced Analytics Centre of Expertise APAC team.

Your main responsibilities:

• Define and help apply data engineering best practices in terms of design, framework, re-usability, documentation to support data science projects across the region with a focus on Property and Casualty Analytics.
• Consult business teams in the ideation for ground-breaking analytics services and develop solid business cases.
• Use state of the art data science platforms and tools to validate and implement advance analytics projects across the region including data ingestion & management.
• Promote digital & smart analytics knowledge, skills and services through compelling presentations internally and externally.
• Continuous learning on specific advanced analytics expertise topics and active participation in research and elaboration of thought leadership on application of AI for the insurance industry.

About the Team

Join a dynamic and international team of data lovers. The Advanced Analytics Center of Expertise (AA CoE) team supports Swiss Re's business functions in developing technology solutions. We use advanced analytics and big data processing from structured and unstructured data for our business and strategic initiatives. We are a global team of highly skilled professionals in advanced analytics techniques, data & text mining and visual analytics.

The AA CoE team provides services in the areas of:

• Analytics Consulting: In collaboration with business teams identifying significant business opportunities and defining the business cases.
• Analytics Delivery (Modelling & Prototyping): Defining the most appropriate technical solution approach and validating the scenarios through prototypes or pilot solutions.
• Analytics Solution Enabling: Implementing, improving and maintaining analytics solutions to tackle business issues.

About You

• Ideally you have 3 or more years of professional experience preferably with a background in insurance industry, gained a Bachelor or Master's degree in Computer Science or other relevant studies;
• You have achieved know-how in one or more data science domains like geospatial analytics, machine learning, predictive modelling, NLP. Experience in distributed computing is a plus;
• You are proficient in data science programming languages such as R, Python, PySpark and SQL;
• You have working understanding of databases and cloud-based data science platform;
• You have participated in data science projects with a focus on data related tasks: Data extraction, preparation, transformation, data pipeline, MLOps; and
• Beyond your technical expertise, you are a good communicator, you like to work flexibly with full dedication for success. Knowledge of additional Asian languages are advantageous.
