About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated data scientist Intern with a passion for technology and an excellent digital awareness to join our Sydney team.

You will support our ANZ business teams to validate and scope selected business opportunities and define business cases for analytics projects.

You will use data science and analytics platforms and tools to create prototypes, reports and tools as well as promote digital and smart analytics knowledge, skills and services to the ANZ business teams.

About the Team

The Advanced Analytics Services team supports Swiss Re's business functions in developing technology solutions. We use advanced analytics and big data processing from structured and unstructured data for our business and initiatives. We are a global team of highly skilled professionals in advanced analytics techniques, data & text mining and visual analytics.

About You

We are looking for:

• Students majoring in computer science, data science, statistics or other related fields are strongly preferred;
• An interest in data science/analytics and related areas. Experience with ETL, data manipulation and exploratory analysis, predictive modelling and machine learning and building analytics reports, visualisation and dashboards will be highly regarded;
• Technical experience with scripting in Python and/or R for data manipulation, modelling and visualisation, visual analytics and reporting in Power BI and advanced Excel;
• Effective interpersonal skills and ability to establish rapport with business partners;
• Strong time management and excellent ability to prioritise numerous tasks; and
• Agility and flexibility with strong dedication for success; and
• Someone who enjoys team collaboration and contributing to the broader team on local and global business initiatives.

Prior internship or project experience in insurance, finance or consulting would be desirable!
