Qualcomm Technologies Inc Global CAD team develops tools, flows, and methodologies for different aspects of VLSI design. The position requires a solid background in computer science and combinatorial optimization.

You will work to develop CAD tools, flows, methodologies, and internal application for enabling technology and Implementation flows in advanced technologies nodes (4nm and below). This position is on an interdisciplinary team with experience in hardware, software, and algorithmic fields to face large-scale microelectronic modern challenges with a data-driven mindset.

The innovation is a central aspect of this role; being at the intersection of electronic design, data analytics, and automation generates challenging area of research. Thus, we seek candidates with excellent knowledge on constraint reasoning and mathematical optimization methods together with strong practice of software development: collaborative work, versioning, continuous integration and continuous deployment and testing, and software quality.

Your main responsibility is to design and implement automated reasoning approaches to solve highly challenging problems on VLSI design using techniques from artificial intelligence, constraint programming, SAT, integer programming, and metaheuristics.

Experience & Education we would love to see:

  • Deep knowledge on automated reasoning approaches of artificial intelligence and/or operation research
  • Deep understanding of graph theory algorithms and data-structures
  • Proven ability to design and implement highly optimized constraint reasoning methods
  • Proven ability to develop high quality software: versioning, testing, continuous integration and continuous deployment, and documentation
  • Excellent computer programming skills in Python are required
  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree, preferably in computer science, applied mathematics, or a related field.
  • The ability to collaborate with engineers in an interdisciplinary team to understand the needs from electronic design requirements
  • The ability to communicate and engage across a variety of audiences

We would also like to see:

  • A master’s degree or PhD in computer science, applied mathematics, artificial intelligence, or a related field
  • Experience with data science approaches and data visualisation tools for large-scale problems is a plus
  • A good understanding of machine learning is a plus
  • Experience on C and C++ object-oriented programming is a plus
  • Experience in Synthesis or Physical Design Flows, CAD tool development
