Job Description

As a Machine Learning Engineer at Autodesk Research, you will be working side-by-side with world-class researchers and engineers doing fundamental and applied research that will help our customers imagine, design, and make a better world.

You are a software engineer who is passionate about solving problems and building things. You are excited to collaborate with our Research Scientists to perform experiments and implement state-of-the-art generative AI algorithms. You are a good communicator, comfortable serving as a translator and straddling the gap between research & development.

The location of this role is flexible. We are a global team, located in London, San Francisco, Toronto, and remotely. Autodesk is a flexible hybrid-first company, allowing workers to work remotely, in an office, or a mix of both.

Responsibilities

• Scaling techniques for large model training
• Understand and prototype ideas from research papers
• Collaborate on research projects & papers with a diverse, global team of Researchers & Engineers
• Support research through building of experimental pipelines, prototypes, and reusable code
• Implement scalable machine learning training pipelines
• Data processing & feature extraction
• Model training & hyperparameter tuning
• Error analysis & troubleshooting

Minimum Qualifications

• BSc or MSc in Computer Science, or equivalent industry experience
• 1+ years of experience with deep learning and generative models
• Experience with version controlling, reproducibility, and deploying machine learning models
• Strong data modelling and data architecture skills
• Experience with cloud services & architectures (AWS, Azure, etc.)
• Proficiency with modern deep learning libraries and frameworks
• Proficiency in coordinating, provisioning, and maintaining systems and compute infrastructure

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with sync/async distributed methods for data/model parallelism
• Experience scaling ML training pipelines
• Experience working in large distributed systems
• Experience or interest in computational geometry and geometric methods
• Multi-modal deep learning and/or information retrieval
• Knowledge of the design, manufacturing, AEC, or media & entertainment industries
• Experience with Autodesk or similar products (CAD, CAE, CAM, etc.)

• A Software Engineer with experience building and training robust machine learning systems
• Familiar with implementing experimental pipelines and prototyping AI applications
• Comfortable building prototypes from scratch and writing maintainable code within existing codebases
• A curious, creative problem-solver who is excited to learn & develop new technologies
• A fast learner & excellent communicator who can effectively collaborate across global locations

Salary transparency

Salary is one part of Autodesk’s competitive compensation package. For U.S.-based roles, we expect a starting base salary between $114,800 and $198,000. Offers are based on the candidate’s experience and geographic location, and may exceed this range. In addition to base salaries, we also have a significant emphasis on annual cash bonuses, commissions for sales roles, stock grants, and a comprehensive benefits package.
