ABOUT THE JOB

Our Team

As an experienced mRNA Computational Biologist, you will lead data analysis and modeling efforts for computational biology, systems immunology and systems vaccinology in the mRNA vaccine and therapeutic domains as part of the Data and Computational Science team in the mRNA CoE. This team brings end to end data integration and advanced analytics (pre-clinical, biomarkers, process development, CMC, clinical) in the mRNA CoE. Deploying and exploiting digital solutions (AI/machine learning, data, analytics) to integrate the full data value chain, extracting actionable information for a move to a full data driven strategy and decision-making process, to increase probability of success and to accelerate mRNA vaccines and therapeutics development and launch. In this position, you will work in collaboration with other mRNA CoE platforms scientific and technical experts located in the US and in France, bringing practical knowledge and experience in applying bioinformatics, statistical and computational methods to pre-clinical and translational research data for understanding and optimizing mRNA vaccines and therapeutics. We look for data scientists/computational biologists with breadth of knowledge and experience delivering insights from data through statistical data analysis, machine learning, simulation & modeling and data visualization.

Main responsibilities

  • Represent the mRNA CoE Data and Computational Science team in platform and project teams as subject matter expert and contribute to the Research data strategy
  • Design, develop and validate robust solutions and pipelines leveraging bioinformatics, statistical models, multivariate analysis etc. for pre-clinical and translational data
  • Perform exploratory data analysis, hypothesis generation and validation through data integration, advanced analytics, and visualization of mRNA vaccine design parameters, high dimensional immunological, -omics and pre-clinical and clinical data (e.g. immunogenicity, reactogenicity)
  • Explore and analyze proprietary and public data for mRNA vaccines mode of action understanding and optimization, biomarkers; generate hypotheses for additional testing
  • Collaborate with scientific partners to advise on study design, readout selection and data formats, data analysis and modeling to generate actionable, reproducible, and interpretable insights
  • Bring broad knowledge and expertise in statistics, data science, machine learning and modeling to project and mRNA platform teams.
  • Prepare and publish scientific papers and congress reports.
  • Demonstrate good software engineering practices
  • Proactively identify, assess, and internalize emerging technologies and methods
  • Generate IP and participate in the drafting of patent filings

ABOUT YOU

  • PhD in Bio-statistics, Bioinformatics, Data and Computer Sciences, Systems Immunology, Computational Biology or equivalent.
  • Skills to collect, integrate, mine and analyze complex biological data and translate them into testable hypotheses. Demonstrated track record including publications developing solutions and delivering insights from data using multivariate analysis, statistical modeling and bioinformatic methodologies in one or more of the following areas:
  • Computational biology, Systems immunology, vaccinology and immuno-genomic: bioinformatics and genomics (including single cell genomics) for disease understanding, immunological questions and/or vaccinology (sc RNASeq, sc TCR/BCR seq, CITE-Seq etc)
  • Data mining, multivariate statistics and machine learning for biomarkers discovery and validation
  • Data modeling for individual and integrated analysis of multi-omics and novel immune assays (e.g high dimensional flow cytometry, systems serology), high-dimensional readouts
  • Strong programming (R and Python), data analytics and modeling skills with experience developing data visualization solutions, process & workflow automation and deploying solutions to the cloud.
  • Proven ability to work independently to learn new technologies, techniques, processes, languages, platforms and systems
