Job Description

Pharmacometrics and pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic (PK/PD) modeling and simulation play an integral role at Sanofi to streamline the development of innovative medicines in different therapeutic areas, from preclinical stages to regulatory approval and beyond.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Systems Engineer to maintain and develop our pharmacometrics IT infrastructure. The infrastructure is built and customized for the modeling and simulation groups across the globe in Sanofi to perform the PK/PD analyses efficiently. The Systems Engineer is also expected to provide strategic input on innovative approaches for future systems development and help to adopt the state-of-art tools in the modeling and simulation space.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and develop a Linux based high performance computing system.
  • Integrate evolving and emerging tools into Sanofi’s toolbox to support different modeling and simulation activities.
  • Test and implement potentially alternative computing solutions.
  • Support linking PK/PD tools with the company-wide IT systems and digital initiatives. 
  • Ensure appropriate documentation and definition of best practices for the computational environment in accordance with regulatory, GXP, and scientific requirements (where applicable).
  • Provide technical assistance and necessary training to end-users.
  • Potentially support scientific modeling and simulation activities (e.g. data processing, model development, diagnostics, and reporting).

About you

  • Academic background in Computational Sciences or other relevant disciplines in Data Sciences.
  • Professional experience with maintaining and developing high-performance computing systems (including proficiency in Unix-type shell scripting and job management utilities).
  • Professional experience in R, with emphasis on developing and deploying R packages on servers.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, and the ability to present and discuss technical information with other stakeholders with less technical experience.

Ideally

  • Broad knowledge of information systems and technologies, with emphasis on cloud platforms.
  • Professional experience with version control systems such as git.
  • Experience with additional programming languages (e.g. Python, Perl)
  • Experience with one or more of the dedicated quantitative pharmacology tools (e.g. NONMEM, Monolix, Simcyp, etc.)
  • Experience with reusable document systems (e.g. LaTex, Beamer and Markdown)
  • Demonstrated experience within cross-functional teams in a matrix organization.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing user-centric tools, and collaborating with users with less technical experience.
